Linkin Park have announced they have reached a settlement with record label Warner Brothers Records, just seven months after a bitter and scathing press release was released by the band's management criticizing the label. In May, the band announced they were halting production of their new album because of concerns over the administrative handling and business deals Warner Brothers was conducting with private investors prior to a $2.6B purchase of the company by the investors from Time Warner. The company proposed cuts that the band said made the corporation too weak to provide sufficient marketing and investment power to fully promote the new album or any of Linkin Park's further releases.

It seems the two sides have come to an agreement that pays Linkin Park a $15M advance for the new album, along with an increase of royalty payings to 20% of total revenue generated from units sold. The length of the new contract is five releases, bringing the total number of releases under Linkin Park's contract since 2000 to an eventual eleven, one more than the previously agreed upon ten. The band have already put out six releases under Warner to this point ('Hybrid Theory', 'Frat Party @ The Pankake Festival', 'Reanimation', 'Meteora', 'Live In Texas', and 'Collision Course'). The new deal also seems to provide Linkin Park more artistic freedom, as it was recently announced by the band that resident bandmember Mike Shinoda would produce the new album, slated for a mid-2006 release.

I read somewhere that Shinoda is only co-producing the album. They haven't revealed the other producer yet. I forget where I read it from though.

This dispute was dumb. LP was just trying to get more money. Sad to see them back the company that gave them their start in the corner

    dot dot fucking dot.

Either you do some research about how artists have been getting screwed over by Warner, or you get the fuck outta her and back into your corner and hope Warner gets you out of there.

...unfortunately for you, I just woke up, and I'm slightly grumpy for a few minutes. ;)

Now, back to what I was going to say before I read your post...

I'm glad someone's finally stepped up to them, and I hope that other bands follow. :)
