i personally think MTM is good, but not the kind of growth i wanted nor expected of LP. its like half the album is ballads written by nickelback.

to tell you the truth i think LP messed up with this album and "change of sound" on this album is not worthy of a grammy. its all about timelyness. they won a grammy for crawling because at that time they were some cool stuff with radio rock. sadly, i see nothing new about MTM, just a step towards sound maturity, something a grammy can't recognize.

While I agree that Minutes To Midnight didn't exactly exceed the expectations of most, I still think that the band should have been nominated for Best Rock Performance atleast; Just anything actually, would have been great. I'm pretty frustrated over this matter on the inside. The band deserves a nomination of some sort. Period.

I really hope that the band makes the huge bang they made back when HT came out. It kind of felt like the hype for MTM was helluva lot more exciting than the result of what MTM is now. Btw, were the efforts put into Meteora recognized at the Grammys?

honestly, im a huge mcr fan but i have to say the black parade was a complete 180 for them. which is exactly why they got so many more fans. if they would have stuck with their old style of music do you really think the teenies would like it? if gerard didnt get a new hairstyle do you really think the teenies would like him? nope. but i think their old style was better.

daughtry to me is the same as nickelback and hinder. they have catchy songs but thats about it. theyll appeal to the masses without any trouble but in a couple of years people will be saying "i cant believe i used to listen to this."
fall out boy is a little different in my eyes because if one actually did take the time to read their lyrics and the entirety of their cd they would see that they actually have a lot more talent than people give them credit for. but theyre never gonna win a grammy just because of the fact that they appeal to a younger generation.

for them to invite mike to read the nominations and not get any nominations is just plain mean! why would they do that? but im sure it will only make LP more humble than they already are. they have awesome fans and thats all that matters.

The instrumental track "Session" was nominated for the Best Rock Instrumental Performance according to Wikipedia, but that's about it.

you think if LP returned to their old pure Nu-metal/hip-hop style they would get awards like b4 ?

or ... u think that people's taste would change and would not pay attention to them ?

let's take a (Pop) example, The Backstreet boys ..... B4, all of their albums used to be on the top of everything .... even their singles .... NOW
with their 6th album (unbreakable) ... they only sold 81,000 in one week !

so poor compared to their old days .... i dunno why ... though their album is much better than the previous one (never gone) as critics said !
and i'm sorry for the bla bla bla about something else

may i ask how they decide the 'best hard rock preformance', The Pot by Tool is in that catergory but i'm pretty sure that came out before last year's grammies.

Pity Linkin Park didn't get anything (along with every other awesome release i've listened to this year).

Whether or not their old style was "better" isn't in question. Obviously the new material is much more accessible since it sold more and accessibility matters a lot in these kinds of shows.

However, even though I've been an MCR fan for a long time (slightly after their first album), I think The Black Parade is their strongest album. Their first album is my favorite but with how much went into writing and crafting The Black Parade, they definitely deserved the nomination.

Icky Thump is still a million times better than anything else in that category. Even Springsteen, for pete's sake.

It's not like the Grammy's mean anything anymore. Sure artists can and will brag about how they won a grammy. It means nothing.

    Best part:

Tool was nomimated for a grammy. Do you think they CARE? I won't be surprised if they upload a video on Youtube of them burning the grammy with some secret scientific weapon, or parodying it in a video of theirs. Then uploading it on bitorrent with the name 'Donkey Porn'.

In the context of music in general. Minutes of Midnight is nothing special, nor is it breaking any musical ground.

No one's going to be jerking over it in the same way they are over the likes of Appetite for Destruction, Metallica, Thriller, Dark side of the moon, etc.

All albums worthy of a grammy, or twelve.

I think part of the reason why Lp didn't get a grammy nod may have something to do with the fact that Minutes to Midnight just came out recently? I mean look at Collision Course, it came out in late 2004 and it didn't win the grammy for best rap/sung until 2006, a year and a half later.

Nickleback's newest cd that sold like a bizillion copies is just now earning grammy nods and it was released in 2005! Talk about snubs!

I'm thinking if Minutes to Midnight is still signifigantly popular throughout 2008, they may even still get a grammy nod for something from Minutes to Midnight, anybody else think this way?

the new material is much more accessible and they sold more because they got hotter. thats about it. seriously if i went up to one of those girls that were waiting in the line to meet gerard and asked them why they were there they would have said "cause he's hot." muscianship is based off of looks and image these days more than than it is off of music. its the "scene." perhaps youre a "real" fan which i think you are. kudos to you. but the majority of the people that say they like mcr today would know nothing about their previous albums.

I disagree. First, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was a humongous success...it wasn't underground. Whether they were into it or not, anyone with any knowledge of the music world and anyone who flipped on MTV would know who MCR were before The Black Parade. And I am willing to bet even if these girls said "because he's hot" a good amount would also say "and I love his voice/lyric/band". Plus, it isn't ONLY girls who like MCR.

alright well you think that but i think otherwise. the majority of their fans are girls. as i can tell by the lines to meet them. but i dont even know why im talking about this. its not an mcr board and plus i like mcr i just dont like the amount of fake fans theyve recieved. but my point was i just dont think that they deserve a nomination over lp.

I think we've all given up on the Grammy's as far as NIN is concerned anyway.

When Wish won it was a different era.
I think the commercial side of the music industry is shit scared of Trent now.
