Finally, someone agrees with me! This is without a doubt the best thing Derek has described about the album, that and the orchestra thing that turned out to be a bit misinterpreted.
^Well both of you actually often share the same opinions lol Like, Mike has a better singing voice than Chester / Meteora sucks and ATS is great / an ultra mellow LP record with Mike as lead and without screaming / orchestral record / folk record would be the greatest thing ever. Yep I remember the main opinions of both of you, creepy much?
Heya Derek, I believe you've got a typo under the headline on your website review. 'Impresions'. Just a heads uP!
I don't think Mike can sing better. I just prefer his voice. If that makes any sense. Also I want Mike to try screaming on a record. Didn't he scream during Papercut live once?
I think that they just have different strengths, because their vocal ranges and registers are different. Chester couldn't do the verses on "Iridescent" as well as Shinoda does, for example
Chester has a good voice, but Mike always seems more comfortable with what he sings, he stays within his range. Chester tends to strain his voice, a lot.
The vocals are not SOAD like, which is what makes the track unique from work Daron has done in the past .
Now that UIG has come out, I have one more question to ask... You said UIG is one of your favorite LP songs in recent memory. Was that excitement talking? Or do you really feel that of the six songs you've heard, UIG is one of the best?
Derek, do you think that this album has better potential than the last few albums based on what you heard so far?
With as devoted to LP's "experimental" side as I've come to know you, I was surprised to see this was listed as one of your favorites. lol makes sense now.
^I just hope the average LPA reception hasn't altered your opinion about the songs. Like, it's cool if you don't dig it as much as when you first heard it, but hopefully you don't feel forced to say "this isn't as good as I though" or "the others are better" because of social pressure...if that makes sense
Nah, UIG to me is still a fantastic track but I realized that the best tracks on there were the ones where Linkin Park didn't sound like the "LP of old" and really did some crazy things. UIG while a decent song, is most certainly "classic Park".
