Hmmm i can only hope Mike goes and does more writing into this, to me Mike would be more into writing a concept album than Chester would.

Chester's CD is just taking too long. Both him and Julien-K. I respect an artist polishing their work, but I really don't see much of an excuse for this. I think both of them are killing their own hype with the wait though.

I'd like to see what new LP could come up with. Also, if you listen to an album like Be by Pain of Salvation, you can see that using a concept to tie the songs together allows you to make all the songs SOUND really different while still making it a unified CD.

I think the concept should be that it's a Linkin Park album. Where Mike raps.

I think at least Chester has a relatively good excuse, he puts LP first. I have no clue what is taking Julien K so long though. I honestly wasn't that impressed by them, but it could have had something to do with the incredibly crappy trip over to see them. I missed almost the entire first half of PR 2007, and I was in a horrible mood when I first got there. I am willing to give them another chance though.

    thats stupid you know?
its taking too long because in the summer of the 2006 chester said: 'LINKIN PARK GOES FIRST'
and how do you finish a record while you are on tour all over the world?
and while your band is on another tour? (JK)

Chester is doing what he can, i would love to get his cd first
im a big Grey Daze fan.

I dont think they would work well together. LP are too mainstream for that .

Anyway, why arent people more excited for this? What happened to the pre-MTM days when we would get like 10 pages of posts in an hour for any piece of news?

Cool, I was actually hoping for Minutes to Midnight to be a concept album, with all the early information regarding the Doomsday Clock and some of the song information, I thought for a while that it might be one. Many of my favorite albums are concept albums, so my anticipation for this album has already grown, assuming they wind up sticking with the idea of a concept album.

definitely sounds cool.. but then again when does a concept album not sound cool? i think they could pull it off, its definitely going to be a creative jump for them if they do it well

    Awesome.

    Concept albums are pro.

Let's hope there concept is really complex and long so more song time.

Is this a first that a (was) nu-metal band is doing a concept album?

I can't think of anyone else.

Does anyone know whether the new album's style will be the same as MTM?

No idea, but a concept album is like what American Idiot was, almost all of it was centered around a person named Jimmy. He was a recurring theme through the entire album.

    does that help?

Oh, yes, Jen, thanks a lot :)

I dunno, then, I'm not too keen on LP having a concept album if they're going to be the same style as MTM. I really want a Meteora/Hybrid Theory-ish style :/

The album probably won't sound like MTM, solely because you have to approach writing a concept album differently than you would a normal one. Instead of putting lyrics to music, you're more or less doing the opposite, the lyrical themes come first, then you have to map the album out and figure out how what songs will apply to what part of the theme, and write the music accordingly to suit that part of it.

I think Minutes to Midnight had little bits of concept album-ish stuff in it. Hands Held High and No More Sorrow are more or less a "suite," their lyrical content makes them go well together, and I'm sure the fact that they're back-to-back on the album was no coincidence. That's essentially what the album will be like, each song will be related to the song before it, and move the theme along in some manner.

If Don Gilmore comes back I'm quitting the band.

And a concept album is where all the songs relate to a theme, or tell a story.

And for the record, if the album sounds anything like any of the album that LP has released, I quit the band.

    Give me something new!

Dan Nakamura should produce it... but that probably won't happen.
