Also, short lenght doesn't make an album bad....An obvious example:

    Beatles - Help :34:20
    Beatles - Rubber Soul : 35:50
    Beatles - Revolver: 35:01
Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band : 39:42

I'm disappointed, because I actually want to have a 3 hours record full of great songs! As I am still realistic, I think 36 minutes is more than okay. I'd rather have the album earlier and shorter than having to wait for it.
ATS is one of my most favourite albums of all time, but let's be honest, the over 40 minutes weren't really used so well. I know it's all about the atmosphere of the album as a whole masterpiece, but to be honest, I'd rather we'd have gotten another track than some of the intros/interludes/preludes. 2 Intros can almost count as trolling.

They've played all their previous instrumentals live. They've even re-done Wake live.

Jack, plz read my post again "Also, those interludes are short enough to merge with the setlist.. I doubt they would play a full 3~4 minute instrumental live."

EDIT: Due to stupidity, entirely on my part, mind you, I have decided to post this disclaimer.

The text below is an opinion on behalf of Ryo Hazuki

    ---

If I didn't already dilike Burn it Down maybe this would not affect me so much but unfortunately that is not the case.

Points against this album so far

    Not coheisive
    Shorter Songs
Weak lyrics (as evidenced by Burn it Down)
    Weak titles
    More like HT & Meteora

Excuse me if I'm not quite excited.

On that topic, anybody think the non-singles from ATS will still get some live action?

I'd be sad if they stopped playing "When they come for me"

It was already known this album has "short firecracker songs" and not a part II of ATS or any previous album so I dunno why people are expecting long songs or more of the ATS style/structure

It's like people forget all info known previously once new info surfaces

    Points? More like opinions...

Not cohesive? So Hybrid Theory is bad because it doesn't flow like ATS or a concept record?

Shorter Songs? So shorter songs automatically means not-as-good songs? Papercut is 3:05, Waiting For The End is 3:51. 3-4 minute songs are more than acceptable.

Weak lyrics as evidenced by BID? Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean its weak...get over yourself.

Weak titles? See above. Oh and by the way, the "horrible" title that everyone was all butt-hurt about (LIES GREED MISERY) has been noted to be one of the better songs by many of the reviewers who have heard it thus far....don't judge a book by its cover.

More like HT & Meteora? It has been said repeatedly that Living Things resembles HT/Meteora only in spirit. Haven't you read the track reviews? Multiple sources are calling it a step in the right direction while maintaining a high energy feel.

Saying you don't like it is one thing - saying point blank that its not cohesive, it has weak titles and lyrics etc is just opinionated rubbish.

It's my opinion, so what? It should be common knowledge that I don't mean to speak for everyone and it's idiotic to assume that I do.
Also, blowing up over someone disagreeing with you? That's real mature. But being as I'll soon not care about your riff-raff of absurdity that you've shown here I'll give you a piece of advice.

    Chill out, man.

    In hindsight,

That's exactly what I'm saying. They've played all their previous instrumentals. There's no doubt that if there is an instrumental in this album it will be played live at some point.

36 minutes of MEANINGFUL music is good, and great if it comes after less than 2 years. And seriously people seems to just want to complain no matter what the news is. Mike clearly stated "3-4 minute songs, shorter than ATS and with energy" so what's even the point in being surprised?

Few artists with 40+ minutes great albums (to me):
    -Fort Minor (lol)
    -Deftones
    -Depeche Mode
-Tool (but 5-6 years lapse from one to the next)
    -NIN
    -P.O.D.
    -A Perfect Circle
    -Muse
    -Puscifer

Few bands with *some* weak or HORRIFIC 40+ minutes albums (to me):
    -Limp Bizkit
    -Korn
-NIN (doesn't always work out great)
    -Combichrist
-pretty much any modern music going toward electro-hardcore garbage

For who disliked BID and thinks it has a weak lyrics, please check out REAL CRAP music such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6j4f8cHBIM
Actually, if you hear BID immediately after this, I might let you even like the song, do I?

BEWARE: To click that link might hurt you afterwards and have collateral effects, but is a GUARANTEED cure to start liking BID. For any further complain, please do contact your doctor or the closest pharmacy.
