According to the UK's 'The Sun' newspaper, Linkin Park have been confirmed to play at the American version of the "Live 8 Concert" on July 2nd in Washington, DC. The concert is a sequel to the Live Aid concert that occured twenty years ago in 1985. It's main focus is to raise awareness for the "Make Poverty History" campaign. Other acts confirmed for the American concert are Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, Destiny's Child, Mary J. Blige, and Outkast. The likes of Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, the Spice Girls, and U2 are rumoured to be playing the UK version of the concert on the same day in London.

Note: 'The Sun' is known to be faulty with their news reports, so please treat this as a rumour until confirmed by Linkin Park.

i hold a different point of view here, 'cause my local newspaper has confirmed that spice girls will be playing in the show. as it's also said by The Sun, so i think LP may have the chance to play in the US one.

I'm pretty sure I heard the UK version was just a rumor and was official denied to be in the making:

Ok, a Live 8 Concert's been confirmed for Philadelphia . The Sun was wrong about the location, which means that they could well be wrong about the performers.

My parents are thinking about going to the Live 8 concert. If my dad can get off work on July 2nd, then we're going to the Philly show. I'm not getting my hopes up yet though.

There are rumours of the Spice Girls performing at this shit since they got back together. There's alot alot of rumours about Pink Floyd performing, too. But I doubt it.

Line-ups for the other parts of Live 8 at other cities.

Oh, Andrea, go to the Philly one. Record the Sarah McLachlan set.

The Beatles have a better chance at reuniting than the original GnR do.

I thinks that this makes it even more likely that LP will play. The tsunami fundraiser concert in Anaheim in the beginning of the year had LP and Jay-Z mashing it up.

Here's the official site; at the moment, the confirmed lineup is the same as Daniel_8474 posted later, but if it officially changes, it'll be here for sure.
