Fantastic idea. I hope enough people get involved to make it interesting though. I feel bad cause I would but i'm not into dupstep music. I hope the future remix contests will be up my alley :)

By the way, can you record new instruments/vocals in your mix?

You can do pretty much whatever you want as long as it fits within the theme we've designated.

It will take top-notch recording quality and vocal abilities to match up with Linkin Park's music though, so be weary of that.

To you and everyone: What themes would you be interested in? Be creative and we might pick the best ones for future monthly mix-ups.

You absolutely may include new instruments/instrumental sections. We encourage it. If you're amazing at guitar and think you could fit it to the theme of the month, do it! As for vocals, you may record new vocals/verses if you want, as long as they are enhancing the song and not shameless self promotion .

I think I might go with a Wretches and Kings dubstep along with trying a WFTE Reggae mix. I have all the tools and multi-tracks, I'm going to go home and get this done!

I hope ya'll are ready! I have a crazy amout of gear. lol Anyone looking to do dubstep, honestly it will cost you unless you know the *cough* methods *cough* like me. Best things that I use, NI Massive, NI FM8, NI Razor. Honestly, Native Instruments makes some good synths lol. Stuff less suited but you can make it work: D.Cam Synth Squad, FL Studio's Wasp.

Massive is the most popular. Not extremely user friendly but tons of automation (I'll probably be using that for most basses). KVR Audio has a TON of free stuff you can search for, vsts and such.

    HELLS to the YEAH!

And Damnit, my WFTE reggae mix sounds like a jazz/reggae song with a dance-hall ending : /
I don't know if that'd be good enough for this contest

If you don't think it's good enough, keep working at it. Remember, only the best will win ;).

Does the remix has to have Dub and Raggae or just one of these?

    Brilliant! Thanks!

Themes? *thinks* maybe trip-hop (for a genre) or Prog-rock. I reckon you could get some killer mixes done in styles like that. :headbang: And though its not so much as a genre, but more of an idea: minimalism. like really stripped down versions of LP songs. I know that could be difficult without a Capella but basically the opposite of ATS. Something rawer, basic. Like the messenger really. something akin to that? Just a thought ;)
