Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

I've had that comment before and was surprised by the similarities too because when making it, I never kept another song of LP in mind. I just thought about the parts that would fit and worked on the timing (when to add the bridge etc.).

Anyways, I'm glad to hear that you can't find the song used, that means I chose a fitting title for the song.

So, finally, I finished my track "Linkin Theater", a mashup of Linkin Park and Dream Theater including:

Build Me Up, Break Me Down (Dream Theater, A Dramatic Turn Of Events)
Wretches And Kings (Linkin Park, A Thousand Suns)
Waiting For The End (Linkin Park, A Thousand Suns)
We Made It (Linkin Park & Busta Rhymes, We Made It [single])
Given Up (Linkin Park, Minutes To Midnight)

You can check it out here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA62q-P0Qco
and please tell me what you think :)

I like it! But to me some parts are off and overall, I think you used to many different kinds of vocals.

WFTE, W&K and We Made It for example all have rap but are all different sounds of vocals. Also the Given Up scream you used has the clapping in it if I'm not mistaken and that's a pity. Overall a good mash-up but imo has a little bit too much going on.

The beginning and ending however are awesome! The part where Mike his rap from We Made It came in was also very fitting imo.

The thing that I liked and tried to include is the different kind of vocals (not only rapping but singing too) to make the mashup more interesting. You are right about the annoying clapping, but i couldn't find a clear acapella :(
Thank you for the feedback! :)

Yeah, I don't mind having both rap and singing in it but to me the different sounds of the raps (the more reggea raps of WFTE, the aggressive/slight distorted raps of W&K and the more normal raps) don't quite fit together. But that's just me, doesn't mean it's bad, quite the contrary, it's good you're trying to do something different!

Yeah, it's a pain to find good acapellas :(

    No problem! n.n

I see you took my suggestion of replacing Blackout with the DT song's actual lyrics. It sounds alot better and I really like this version. Amazing work. If only that clapping was absent, it would be perfect haha.

Are you doing a mashup of LP vs Yourself? Also, we've had 28 entries so far! This is an incredible month, keep em coming.

Here are my mashups (obviously not counting towards this contest):

Fort Minor Vs. Sugarhill Gang - Petrified Delight

Linkin Park Vs. De La Soul - Wretches & Oohs

Linkin Park Vs. New Order - Black Monday

Rick Astley Vs Linkin Park - Never Gonna Find A New Divide

Kesha Vs The Black Eyed Peas - Dirty Cannibal

    Enjoy :)

On second thought, while we do not want to discourage creativity, we'd rather not have new vocals recorded for these mashups. Strictly studio please.

As far as I know, there is not clear acapella for Given Up. The multitracks are ripped from the game Rock Revolution and the vocals are mixed with the clapping. Maybe if it gets put in Guitar Hero or Rock Band that will change, but for now that's all there is. I've mashed up that song with Disturbed's "Inside The Fire" and it's honestly one of my favourite mashups, but every comment I get is about how the clapping is annoying, even though it goes with the timing and the clapping kind of goes hand in hand with Given Up (pun not intended).

You do realize if you have a typo you can just edit the post right? And it's likely in slow motion because you have the BPM set too low. See the thing that says BPM/Tempo? Make that a higher number. Should fix everything.

that's the only thing that has me stuck. just that one part is in slow motion and if i change the bpm/tempo, the whole song speeds up or slows down

Did you check to make sure that the sample itself was actually beatmatched to the entire song and not playing in a seperate BPM?
