It has been announced via this news post on linkinpark.com that Linkin Park band member Mike Shinoda will pay a visit to the Linkin Park Underground chatroom on Wednesday, February 4 at 11:30 AM, PST. Members of the Linkin Park Underground community will be able to drop in and ask Shinoda questions regarding Linkin Park's upcoming festival dates, Shinoda's holiday plans, new Linkin Park material that could be in the works and, of course, Chester Bennington's mysterious ankle injury which caused the cancellation of so many tour dates! Are you looking forward to this LPU chat session? What would you ask Mike Shinoda? Let us know on our message board! EDIT: here are some of the tidbits gleamed from the chat session: the story behind Chester's recent ankle injury was that he slipped on a plastic bottle and fell the band considered re-scheduling the cancelled shows but doing so would displace their existing schedule too much to be worthwhile for anyone Chester is expected to be able to play the summer festivals that the band have lined up no standard music video will be shot for "Rebellion" but live footage was shot during the recent shows and there is the possibility that said footage may be edited into a live video Shinoda came up with the main guitar line in "Devil's Drop" in the midst of a band meeting and recorded himself playing it on his iPhone so that he would remember it. That very recording, complete with other band members talking over the guitar-playing, formed the backbone of the eventual song the song that Linkin Park have worked on with Steve Aoki, tenatively called "Horizons", was recently "wrapped up". The song is expected to appear on Aoki's upcoming album "Neon Future II" Source: linkinpark.com via Filip
Somebody must ask about the mysterious LP x Aoki collab for Neon Future II.... or any plans for THP deluxe edition.
WE NEED TO ASK THEM ABOUT THE MAKING OF THP!!!!! Also, we need to know what the future for this year with linkin park is.
an EP? that would be cool... a new material for an EP would be awesome.. if it's an EP with reworks of THP material, it's cool too.
+1 I don't think there will be any info especially since its Mike but since its Mike, I'm sure the chat will be a lot of fun. Dammit, I used my demo 30 days too soon.
I'm going to spam him with "WHERE'S MAKING OF THP??" and "WHY NO BACKSTAGE FOOTAGE IN LPTV NO MORE??". It'll be fun
These used to be something to look forward to, but I can't remember the last time we got anything worthy out of one of these chats.
I hope someone will ask him to go in depth with the lyrics of specific songs on THP. I'm still not sure what Rebellion means, after he tweeted it was ironic. Is he showcasing the absurdities of people obsessing over first world problems (the obvious guess)? Or is it in fact ironic and he is poking fun at people who say our problems don't matter because we are "the fortunate ones".
To me, it's a jab at people who feel that they're being "rebellious" by advocating/rejecting ... something or another. It is a good question
I'm sure people will ask him plenty of questions we want answered, but he'll obviously pick whatever is convenient for him and whatever he doesn't want to answer, or at the very most just give out half assed answers. "Hey Mike, Are you guys gonna release the making of THP?" "Its complicated" "Hey Mike, Are you guys gonna play more songs from THP or LT?" "Maybe" "Hey Mike, Are you gonna make another Fort Minor album?" "oh look at the time, already 2 minutes? Sorry guys, gotta go"
I've always preferred the more organised way of holding these Q&A things, where they'd do a rounds of questions from people whose usernames started with certain letters, and band members had designated time to answer. Now, it's just sheer chaos. Noise which goes by so fast that Shinoda would be justified in not responding to anything.
Not the right band to ask that question, they've always been so pro technology. I don't think they would ever speak out against that.
