I have a kinda slow operating laptop at times, as it freezes constantly and takes forever to open a program like iTunes up, and I'm wondering how I can improve the operating speed of it?
If it's slow when booting up, then you might want to consider reformatting or living with it. If it's slow right after logging in, I'd clean up some start-up processes. winkey+r -> msconfig -> Startup tab. Look through the entries in there. If there's a lot of stuff you don't need, either uncheck it so it doesn't load on startup, or uninstall it. If you don't know what it is, look it up on Google; it might be a system process, so you should leave those alone. Also, check task manager under the processes tab to see what's using up lots of memory. If it's something you don't need, uninstall it, or don't run it as often. If you're running Vista, you might want at least 2GB of RAM. Vista runs smooth for me with 4GB of RAM. *whistles* On XP, I'd say you need at least 1GB of RAM. And yes, delete iTunes. xD Foobar2000 is pretty lightweight, and is somewhat easy to use once you're familiar with it.
Here's a list of things you could do, It's not a complete list but it works. Reinstall your OS Defrag your HardDrive. Upgrade your Laptop Delete Itunes. Delete/stop start-up processes (Tomi had it there) Yeah...
instead of getting MS word I got something else could AbiWord, which is a smaller program. I don't wanna delete iTunes though does the other program read all the files that iTunes can not just mp3s?
Also not that you probably do, if you have Windows Blinds then remove that, other than that, just basically do what Tomi said, un-check the boxes like the iTunes helper etc.
