Well maybe it's better he quits while he's ahead instead of losing the plot later on. I think he's done what's needed for him. So I'm not worried.

I never really was a big fan of his work, but I'm sure that this will leave a mark in the music world. He's made a pretty big impact on alot of people, and I'm sure he'll continue to do so throughout the years. While I didn't particularly agree with his views, he was one hell of an artist, and I wish him luck in whatever he does after this.

I think you mean to say that Trent Reznor did some good stuff for Manson.

I don't think it's all that big of a loss.

I never was a fan of his music either, but the question remains:

Who are the zealots going to go after now?

I think Marilyn Manson has done some good stuff and has made a good contribution to the music industry. But it's probably an appropriate time to retire.

Good riddance to a performer who was past his prime and continued to release subpar music. His early work was awe inspiring (Smells Like Children, Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals), but somewhere, he just gave up, or so it seems.

And all Trent Reznor ever did was produce one or two albums, bring him to the forefront of industrial music, and some other tiny things. Manson overshadows his mentor in every way except longevity. His shock-rock tactics wouldn't last long in today's day and age. They look tame compared to other people's stuff.

Oh well, his run was mediocre at best while it was happening. Good luck to him in the horror genre in films, it's going to take a hell of a director (and mind) to make me watch a horror movie and make me scared. I think Manson can do that.

EDIT: In Manson's defense though, I really enjoyed a few of his songs and albums. "From Highway To Hell" is one of the best bootleg albums I've heard. Lots of cover songs and whatnot. Go and find it, it's worth it.

Oh  I'm a big fan off his work. He was very good live when I saw him, to bad that he retires :( .

I only liked some of Manson's music, so I'm not really bothered by his retirement.
