I read this whole thread, I told myself I wouldn't post anything. but I have to post here. I have two friends who collect guns and go out shotting. They shoot targets and go hunting. They own ARs, and I see no problem with that. If you take away these type of guns than people who own them to have fun (Hunting, shooting targets, ect) get screwed over when they are using them for no harm. There is absolutely no reason to harm everyone for some stupid individual's mistakes.

A guy pumps rounds into 71 different innocent people, but we shouldn't consider banning assault rifles because some people won't be able to shoot at some targets for fun?

Those are flawed priorities at best.

Situations like that can either have good or bad outcomes. Someone once put it to me like this: A man walks into a bank armed with a gun, and has intentions to rob it. He has the firearm because he knows everyone in that bank is defenseless against it. BUT, if everyone in that bank had a small pistol or something of the sort, would he still try to rob that bank, knowing there were 20 guns pointed right back at him? Do you understand what I'm saying?

That reminds me of a scene from The Dark Knight. The clowns are robbing a bank and one of the people in the bank gets a gun out and attacks.

This reminds me of the video for Payphone.

So, we shouldn't ban guns because some people use them for fun?

The amount of attention this has gotten is borderline successful sensational news to a text-book example great.

Though, I do feel bad about the people harmed. I wish those injured the best. >:\

Speaking of gun-crime, for this year, I'll stick to my guns. :p

Yes, the availability of certain types of weapons allow easier time for one to murder one-another. The fact that it happens, however, isn't a direct cause from availability. Personally, I believe there are many factors that weave in to correlate gun-crime. Imo, its the state of the people and the society we live in that has one of the most significant contribution to gun-crime, than anything else. If a nation wishes to solve gun-crime problem, it must first solve many other underlying problems that sickens and give ills to society.

That's the thing though. If we all accept this statement as fact, then why does it matter what other factors help create gun violence? If "the availability of certain types of weapons allow easier time for one to murder one-another," then that needs to be dealt with. Ignoring it because it isn't the only reason seems lazy.

Banning guns (making them illegal) is going to prevent this type of disaster? Please remind us how well criminals follow the law.

I think you're misreading everyone's point. It is certainly a ridiculous assertion to believe that completely banning guns is going to somehow prevent these tragedies from occurring, and I don't really know if anyone can believe that. But, implementing a regulation to make them more difficult to get might help. Clearly something is wrong with the system considering how many of these tragedies we've had in the last decade.

This is the opposite direction of where the blame needs to be placed.

i never mentioned anything about the main actors taking the blame i am just saying a 1st person point of view that if i was a main actor in the movie i would have a bit of guilt in my part, sorry if my post is misinterpreted.
