Meteora: What Went Wrong?

To the people who dislike Meteora(AKA everybody) what makes you dislike part/some/most of the album


To me, it's that some of the songs seem too...... teenage like. With HT anybody could relate to the songs, no matter the age. With Meteora, it seems like only teenagers can relate to the songs, and some of them sound under-produced. Still great, though.

 

AKA everybody is wrong. I don't hate Meteora but HTF is some of the worst LP lyrics to date.

I don't hate Meteora, but it's just such an obvious carbon copy of Hybrid Theory that it's hard to appreciate the album. I love a few songs, but most of them are just like "really?" due to the poor lyrics and similar structure.

It's also a bit too angsty for my tastes.

 

Meteora is my favorite album, but if anything went wrong it was Don Gilmore. That was a bad decision.

 

What's wrong with Don Gilmore besides his last name?

Angst isn't a bad thing, but I hate when people label bands "Teenage-angst". It gets really annoying.

 

I just think he hindered the band from making a more interesting album. Again, not that it isn't a great album. But its no where their best work.

 

Yeah, but I still love it. If I didn't, I wouldn't of bought it.

At first I hated Rubin producing MTM and ATS, but looking back, he did a great job. Especially ATS.

 

Don't get me wrong it's my favorite album. Of like, all time. But its just not very creative.

 

Instrumentally it excels Hybrid Theory.

There's something called Meteora? Are talking about the Grecian City, right?

 

^After hearing that 100 times in the shoutbox, it's not funny.

 

The lyrics annoy me (Somewhere I Belong has pretty much the same rhymes as Crawling) and some songs (Don't Stay, Nobody's Listening) are just boring. Still a good album, Breaking The Habit is perfect.

 

What do you mean "boring"

 

All songs are good, but they got old, and they don't have a ''fresh'' sound like LP's new songs at all. I used Don't Stay and Nobody's Listening as an example.

As much as I still like Meteora, it really got ehh for me after listening to the album again. Plus, wasn't Don Gilmore the reason why Mike had to rewrite the chorus for "Somewhere I Belong" over 100 times and the reason why "Don't Stay" was all rock and not reggae like the band originally hoped? If he was, then crap.

I do love "Breaking the Habit", "Figure.09", "Session" and "Faint" a ton, though.
