You know those CDs that you absolutely can't stand at first but sooner or later you come to love them? Well list all the CDs that have really grown on you over the past years and how long it took them to grow on you. lostprophets// the fake sound of progress- took about 7 listens afi// sing the sorrow - half year burning tree projekt// almost transparent - 2 listens evanescence// fallen - 3 listens
That's never the case for me. I usually love an album the second I hear it and then hate it every time I hear it after that. For example, I loved Green Day's American Idiot but now the only good song on it in my opinion is "American Iidot." Same with Good Charlotte's new album. It was awesome at first but now I can't stand it.
I find out that's usually what happens with "punk" and pop/rock bands. And also extremely repetitve ones like Lo Pro. I'm sick of every one of their songs.
This is exactly why I don't buy CD's anymore, and if I do, I've heard atleast half or more of the album beforehand, whether it be from P2P or a friend. So yeah, I don't usually buy CD's anymore in fear of me hating it after a few listens, or having to listen to it a few times to like it. That's just stupid. The last CD like that though? Probably Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables by Dead Kennedys.
Pillar's "Where Do We Go From Here". It took about 5 listens for me to actually start liking it. I can't think of any more right now.
Fates Warning - X (5 listens) Pain of Salvation - BE (about 10 listens to fully appreciate it) Opeth - Damnation (3-4 listens) Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (7-9 listens) For most albums though, I've listened to so many genres I don't hate the album right away, but I also don't buy pop/punk and nu-metal albums either.
A lot of the albums I end up really loving are the ones I didn't like at first. Recently, American Idiot by Green Day took a few listens, in the past Sing The Sorrow by AFI (took me a few months), London Calling by the Clash (took a few weeks), the Used's self-titled (close to a year), The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails took a couple listens, Coral Fang by the Distillers grew on me slowly over the course of winter 2003, Flogging Molly's Drunken Lullabies took a few listens, and I liked Joni Mitchell when I was a little kid, rebelled around 10-12 and fell in love with her music again when I was 13ish.
I know this isn't an album, but I used to hate The (International) Noise Conspiracy with a passion, but now I find myself really liking them.
Story of the Year - Page Avenue Breaking Benjamin - Saturate Chevelle - Wonder What's Next Alexisonfire - Watch Out! Lostprophets- thefakesoundofprogress Social Code - Year at the Movies
Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head Evanescence - Fallen Kanye West - Collage Dropout System Of A Down - Toxicity <<---that took a long to time.
When I buy CDs I make sure I've heard atleast half (or all) of the songs on it beforehand, so ... ... usually it's the other way for me. I love the album, then get sick of it after a while.
Linkin Park - Reanimation - About 3 listens System Of A Down - Steal This Album! - A month or two Jane's Addiction in general - 6 years
