In a recent phone interview with Hitz FM, Mike Shinoda was asked to give some details on Linkin Park's upcoming new record.

"I think the guys really liked what's going on in this record [Fort Minor], but I think there's also an element of organic, more natural sounding music that we want to try and make. I think the next record we want to try something that's different, [but] that maintains our style..."

Unfortunately, due to several SEVERE technical difficulties the majority of the interview was inaudible, but shall you wish to hear confirmation of this report from Mike Shinoda you may listen to it here (Rapidshare). (Click on Free, then wait for the link to start downloading).

Thanks to SJAY of the FM Forums

I'm glad they're going to try something new... but didn't they say something similar to that before Meteora was released (I didn't feel that Meteora was that big of a change from Hybrid Theory)? Hopefully this time something really creative is going to come out.

Joe was actually quoted a few months before Meteora as saying their followup wont be that much different than Hybrid Theory.

So I guess we were kinda all set up for this a long time before.

I actually hope that by organic they mean like Pink Floyd where all of thier samples/noises etc were done by hand or with analog synths..LONG before the invention of computers.

Seriously it's not so much sounding different, its that Brad needs to step up his game.

Meteora would've been so much different if Brad tried crazy riffs and had absolutely no powerchords.

When you are speaking of more 'organic' music, you're talking about less synthesized stuff and computerized instruments, and more hand-played instrument sounds. Maybe Joe will go oldschool with his scratches and such...

This is very promising news considering HTEP and the HT demos were done more in this style.

Now, if we could get a more accurate release date than Spring '06... :)

I'd certainly love for the lyrics to be of the EP's quality. I haven't found one person who DOESN'T think the lyrics are better on the EP.

One line stands out to me, from the live Esaul tape:

"Soon, the Aztec moon will heat my room, heal my wounds"

    That's what I'm looking for. ^_^

I'm glad to hear it. It pissed me off how they cut Mike off with Believe Me.

i think this album is gonna be awesome!!!

because i think mike and chester took their time and took a break from LP to make a solo album! so they culd see wut they can do on their own, and now chester has his ability and mike has his ability! and once they come back together the rythm and the technique and lyrics will be amazing!

and yea, brad should make song new strings and stop making their songs sound all the same!

Hmm this sounds promising, but I'm not holding my breath. They should get Josh Abraham or Ric Ruben to produce the album.

Well, I still hope Linkin Park has it's metal side, as well as it's hip-hop side, I don't want it all to be metal, or all hip-hop.
