[THUMB]http://www.musiclipse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/nirvana-hd-photo-band-members.jpg[/THUMB] Nirvana, one of the most influential and arguably one of the best bands of all time, will finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at this year's ceremony tonight, 25 years after the release of Bleach, the band's debut album. The band, whom undoubtedly changed the face of popular culture as people knew it back then, will be inducted by R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. Nirvana are probably one of only few musical acts in history that truly had an irreversible impact on the world. They changed what people thought of music, popular culture, and even made people question our very own society. Nirvana, in addition to introducing the iconic "Seattle sound" to the world's airwaves, also brought along an image; an image of a band that really didn't care about what society thinks about them; a band that could do anything they wanted to, sang what ever they wanted, wore whatever they wanted to and spoke about anything they wanted to. They were, to bluntly put it, three people from Seattle that started a fire that still rages on today. Because of Nirvana, the world, from the 1990s onward, would never be the same. People who were previously outcast as being "different" from society, those "aternatives" that would sit at the back of the classroom, were now cool people because of Nirvana. All stereotypes and rules restricting the upper class to forever being neat, tidy and classy, were destroyed by Nirvana when such people started listening to them. They furthermore promoted Feminism and Equal Rights and even went as far to promote LGBT rights, one of the first acts to do so in a then predominantly conservative America. If there has ever been a worthy enough act that deserved to be immortalized in the world's history books for years to came, it is Nirvana. But hey, that's only my word.
