There's some really great songs on this album ("Good Soldier", "Capital G", "The Great Destroyer", "Zero-Sum", "In This Twilight"), as well as some songs I know will grow on me. I'm not ready to deem this the greatest NIN album ever, though....yet.
So.... about the leak... http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=69841 The world is full of geniouses. I bet Trent is laughing at this.
I bet he's really pissed off, actually. He probably faults himself for getting these people in trouble.
listened to it yesterday, hated it because it didn't seem to fit in my style of music (I love nu-metal and rock and such, but gave this a chance). I absolutely hated it. Today I listen to it again with an open mind and just accepted a new genre into my vast collection and listened to it for what it's worth/who they are and it is fucking amazing. I love just about every song. the part in "The Great Destroyer" makes me laugh, when all of a sudden, it goes into a galactic-like sound... "I am the great destroyerrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!"
I've listened to this quite a few times over the last few days and I'm not ready to say it's the best NIN album (yet), but i'd have to say it is by far the catchiest NIN album. Every damn song on this album is extremley catchy and it's hard not to play each song over and over again. I will definatley be going out to pick this one up.
I LOVED that part! The more I listen to this album, the more I like it. To put the songs in order from what I like most to least: 01. Capital G 02. Zero-Sum 03. The Good Soldier 04. The Great Destroyer 05. Beginning Of The End 06. God Given 07. Survivalism 08. In This Twilight 09. My Violent Heart 10. Me, I'm Not 11. Meet Your Master 12. The Warning 13. Another Version Of The Truth 14. Hyperpower! 15. Vessel 16. The Greater Good
I haven't listened to it enough to start putting an order to songs, but tentatively, here is my ranking of the album. 01. Any song that is not Survivalism. 02. Any song that is not Survivalism. 03. Any song that is not Survivalism. 04. Any song that is not Survivalism. 05. Any song that is not Survivalism. 06. Any song that is not Survivalism. 07. Any song that is not Survivalism. 08. Any song that is not Survivalism. 09. Any song that is not Survivalism. 10. Any song that is not Survivalism. 11. Any song that is not Survivalism. 12. Any song that is not Survivalism. 13. Any song that is not Survivalism. 14. Any song that is not Survivalism. 15. Any song that is not Survivalism. 16. Survivalism
I loved that amazing harmony in Great Destroyer. I loved how amazing of an intro HYPERPOWER! is. I love how similar "God Given" is to "SexyBack" I love how "Capital G" is the new awitha teetha, and sounds like michael jackson. and i find another version of the truth boring as hell. on reference to the ARG... http://www.gracetheteacher.net HUZZAH. i hate to double post but... its not connected to my former post. Darren Kroupa, who was in a picture with trent and gang on the nin.com photos, and was mentioned in the ARG at one point, passed away this morning in his battle with cancer. He was 23. He got to meet Trent thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, and got more than he ever hoped for. May God bless his family and friends. Which also reminds me, condolences to the Reznor family on the loss of Trent's grandfather George Watson Reznor.
I know this will change over time but this is where the tracks stand right now IMO: 1. The Great Destroyer 2. Vessel 3. My Violent Heart 4. The Beginning of the End 5. Survivalism 6. Capital G 7. God Given 8. The Good Soldier 9. Me, I'm Not 10. Meet Your Master 11. The Warning 12. Hyperpower! 13. The Greater Good 14. In This Twilight 15. Zero Sum 16. Another Version of the Truth
"Year Zero" is reportedly the first of two concept albums, the second of which Reznor hopes to finish next year. had no idea, awesome.
So...I haven't listened to any tracks since my PC's all....jacked up......still very excited...can't wait
