Dead By Sunrise's 2009 album Out Of Ashes was given a special vinyl release earlier this year for Record Store Day, which featured new bonus content including a recording of a 2009 live acoustic set, along with the studio B-side "Morning After". This deluxe edition, complete with those same bonus tracks, is now coming to digital music platforms on October 11 to mark the album's 15th anniversary, giving many fans the opportunity to hear "Morning After" plus stripped-down live versions of songs like "Walking in Circles" and "In the Darkness". Tracklist: Fire Crawl Back In Too Late Inside of Me Let Down Give Me Your Name My Suffering Condemned Into You End of the World Walking in Circles In the Darkness Morning After Crawl Back In - Live in Las Vegas Walking in Circles - Live in Las Vegas In the Darkness - Live in Las Vegas Let Down - Live in Las Vegas Morning After - Live in Las Vegas Dead By Sunrise was, of course, the brainchild of Linkin Park member Chester Bennington, who wanted an outlet for song ideas which he didn't feel were a good fit for Linkin Park to work on. He recruited longtime friends Ryan Shuck, Amir Derakh, Brandon Belsky, Elias Andra and Anthony "Fu" Valcic (all current or former members of the band Julien-K) to help develop these songs in the studio. After working on the project on-and-off for a few years (amidst label troubles and an entire Linkin Park album/touring cycle, among other things), Dead By Sunrise eventually released the full-length album Out Of Ashes in October 2009. With his collaborators, Bennington drew from various rock and pop influences to create songs sonically and tonally distinct to what he had helped shape in Linkin Park (even with the band's major swerve on 2007's Minutes to Midnight), not to mention lyrical concepts that were worlds apart from the broad angst Linkin Park had been known for. Leading up to the Out Of Ashes release was a slate of live performances which included late night talk shows, surprise appearances during Linkin Park's sets, and the brief acoustic performance in Las Vegas which is included in this latest re-release. The deluxe edition of Out Of Ashes will be available to listen to on Spotify and other digital music platforms on October 11. Source: Spotify
Album is still really consistent. Maybe some day i am gonna going for the Vinyl. But right now i am not there yet
Walking in Circles is such an amazing song, rivals many of LP best songs imo. Also love In the Darkness.
I've been playing this album today for the first time since...2015 I want to say. It's been a long time. It's so much better than I remember it. I also learned today that Morning After was written when Chester was 15. That's a crazy old song and even better than it will be on streaming now for everyone to hear.
Haven't heard those 2 songs in many years, yet remember the melodies pretty vividly. Those were great. Into You was awesome too. Still wish that record had gotten a slightly less polished production, as the tunes themselves were quite strong, but were often buried behind too much glossy effects. "Let Down" was a good example of that.
Walking in Circles was so clearly the best song on the album to me. Cool that they're re-releasing this, though If the album I had didn't come with Morning After I'd be more hyped for this release.
The acoustic performances on this deluxe edition are actually really beautiful. Definitely worth checking out.
For the past few years before the Linkin Park comeback happened, i was so unplugged from all things related to them that I had no idea they did a special Record Store Day release of Out of Ashes! A severely underrated record (no bias at all). Judging by Discogs, they are still a ton at really reasonable prices, so I may need to cop one of those.
Too Late, Let Down, Into You, and In The Darkness are my favorite. Gems on a record that deserves a lot more recognition
This album really grew on me after release. The only downside to me are some forgettable songs (Condemned and End of the World) and the completely euthanized version of My Suffering we got after hearing the original version of the verses live.
