Pain of Salvation is a Swedish progessive metal/rock band created by vocalist Daniel Gildenlow. He started his first band at age 11(!) and at 18, Pain of Salvation was first formed. After winning lots of local contests, they were signed by a Swedish record company. After the huge critical success of their sophomore concept album 'One Hour By the Concrete Lake' (1998), (dealing with many political, social, and economic issues on a scale that no other band has attempted) they were signed by the well-known prog label InsideOut. They released 'The Perfect Element Pt. 1' in 2000, another success. Then they did a live album called '12:5', reworking past material so it sounded very unique. Currently they are finishing the recording of their follow-up and sequel to their 2000 release. Their current lineup consists of Daniel Gildenlow (lead vocals/Lead guitar), Johan Hallgren (Guitars), Kristoffer Gildenlow (bass), Frederick Hermanson (keyboards), and Johan Langrell (drums). First of all, personally let me tell you that Daniel Gildenlow is probably one of the most talented rock musicians of all-time. His voice has such an incredible range. He has a higher, almost operatic voice sometimes, and he does some amazing harmonies. But he has a great aggressive voice, he can sound an awful lot like Disturbed's David Draiman (ex. 'Used'). Not only that, he is a great lead guitar player, with great melodies and solos, but he allows room for other players to shine. He also writes most of the music for the band and comes up with all of the lyrics and concepts for their albums. This man is a genius. Anyways, you should check their music out. My favourite songs of theirs are: 'Plains of Dawn' 'Nightmist' '!(Foreword)' 'Pilgrim', 'Inside', 'Ashes', and 'Used'. Their music is really unlike anything I've ever heard before, so don't expect to love them right away...I sure didn't. But many should realize what an amazing band they are. They should break-through very soon. Pain of Salvation MP3s, Bios, Lyrics, News...
"Used' is wierd when you listen to it at first, especially at the start and the 1st verse. I love when the guitar solo comes in though, its so awesome. It took me a while to get used to this song. Just give them a chance, they'll grow on you
I was listening to it, then when they get near the end of the song I thought my MP3 player kicked into classical.
