Has anybody heard the song "Dead Bodies Everywhere" by Korn? In one part, it sounds very similar to One Step Closer, and I'm wondering if LP maybe got the idea from this song unintentionally? Take a listen

Right at the 3:00 minute mark. What's everyone's thoughts?

Or is it just a huge coincidence?:dafuq:

I can definitely tell what you mean. The guitars sound similar at that part. It could be a possibility

Rhythmically, it's basically the same. Harmonically, it's on a totally different planet. It's not like a "1, 2, 3 +..." rhythm is a particularly unique thing in the first place either.

I'm thinking it's a stretch. A lot of songs coincdentally sound like each other. When "I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace came out, I was convinced that the guitar work in that song was a clean rip off of One Step Closer.

I guess there's always a chance, artists are usually inspired subconsciously through other works they've seen or heard. I don't think LP did here, though, on purpose.

LP never try to take something from some other bands. Not their style. If it happens, so not meant to do it for their own selves. (ugh me and spelling...)

I disagree. Linkin Park definitely aped U2 with 'Shadow of the Day'.

Mike said on Making of MTM (or maybe it was on MOATS, don't remember) that they listen to a certain song, and try to "get inspired" by it...

And here are some songs that "inspired" LP:
N.W.O. by Ministry (Given Up riff)
With Or Without You by U2 (Shadow of The Day)
Something I Can Never Have by NIN (What I've Done piano part)

How can you NOT hear Intergalactic/High Voltage? The robot voice on the chorus of High Voltage is about as derivative/as blatant of a "rip off" as LP's ever made. The HTEP came out a few months after Intergalactic was a HUGE single for the Beastie Boys, and the effect on the chorus vocals on both songs is almost identical.

House of the Rising Sun and Roads Untraveled are both 6/8 ballads that don't really have a chorus, and their chord progressions are VERY similar.

The similarity is pretty obvious on this one too... It kinda sucks that so many songs from ATS have so many elements that resemble other songs, when they said that "ATS sounds like nothing you ever heard before."
