http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7356875/radiohead-animator-burn-the-witch-video Kettu believes the "Witch" video was intended to be happier than the song and the album, which, from what she's heard, is very dark. "They wanted the video to contrast with what they're playing and to wake people up a bit." So, the album is very dark. I thought TKoL and Tomorrow's Modern Boxes were pretty eerie and gloomy, interesting to think that this could be even darker.
On May 16th Radiohead will be releasing on vinyl a 7" single of Burn the Witch, with Spectre serving as the b-side. The single will be available exclusively through indie record stores. http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/05/radioheads-burn-the-witch-receives-vinyl-release/ Looks like I know where I'm going on May 16th.
Yep! I guess you shop there too? Mad World and Recycled Books in Denton are also really great record stores, even though Mad World doesn't have much of a used collection like Josey does.
Yeah, that's where I went on RSD to grab my J Dilla record. Also picked up Night Ranger's Midnight Madness and an Etta James LP while I was there. I love Recycled Books and Mad World but I'm only ever in Denton for karaoke so I don't frequent there as much.
My favorite performance by them, with their Saitama 2008 show being a second. Although this video is missing the covers they did - at least I'm really, really certain those were performed at the Scotch Mist taping. They were probably omitted for copyright reasons or something along those lines.
NEW VIDEO ON INSTAGRAM LP9 TODAY? https://www.instagram.com/p/BFEE49_KyuM/ Thom forgot where he parked.
New video out now. Digital release of the album out May 8. Physical release on June 17.
Can't wait to hear it. Hopefully it's available for streaming. I discovered my In Rainbows copy wasn't available even for use on iCloud, despite me ripping and uploading the CD myself. They also removed the album from Apple Music.
The video is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will be Blood, The Master, Punch-Drunk Love, Inherent Vice) btw.
Possible titles for LP9 include: A Head Full of Drones A Rush of Blood To The Ed How To Reappear Completely Kid B Jonny and His Lemon Shaker LP9 Avatar 2 To Have Even a Hot Women Witness That Views From The 9 Burn The Creep
They rarely ever have bad music videos, even the ones with Thom dancing and being used as a meme after the fact. My favorites videos are "Karma Police", "Street Spirit", "Knives Out" and "Pyramid Song" EDIT: Update http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/05/radiohead-sent-35mm-prints-of-daydreaming-to-movie-theaters/ They sent out the "Daydreaming" video to a couple movie theaters. The director of the music video also directed There Will Be Blood.
A Moon Shaped Pool Here's a very old Radiohead song that is probably on the album. Edit: True Love Waits closes the album what the fuck
My favorite to least favorite so far after a couple listens. Will probably change over time. I can't rank it among their albums this early, but it'll be high. It's a heavily layered and emotional album. Certain Radiohead albums took a while to settle in for me, but this one clicked right away, it's a bit more accessible. Beautiful work from everyone, especially Jonny & Thom. Now to scrape up $100 for that Special Edition. 1. True Love Waits ("Don't leave" ) 2. Glass Eyes (It's like something from a movie, it's beautiful) 3. Identikit (The 2nd half ) 4. Ful Stop (This one is a trip) 5. Daydreaming ("Half of my life" ) 6. Present Tense 7. Decks Dark 8. The Numbers 9. Burn the Witch 10. Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief 11. Desert Island Disk 2016 is just an insane year for music and we're not even half way through.
Glass Eyes is absolutely heartbreaking those fucking lyrics make me feel isolated and alone. I never thought Radiohead would use a choir. Decks Dark is stunning.
This dethrones Kid A as my second favorite Radiohead album after In Rainbows. Was kind of waiting for a more moving album since then, although Kid A is pretty unsettling in itself. The new album is just something I find much more relatable during this moment in my life. Watching The Basement 2008 performance and it brings back a lot of memories. Makes me sad though to realize how much time has passed since then.
