My life is complete. Super Mario Bros. 3 has finally been released on the Wii Virtual Console. I may now die happy.

I was in ninth grade, sitting in Algebra, when a PA announcement was made.

"Students and faculty of Geneva High School: I would like your attention. At approximately 8:45 this morning, the United States came under attack from a foreign government. An aircraft crashed into the North World Trade Center tower, followed shortly thereafter by another aircraft crashing into the South World Trade Center tower, in New York City. A third aircraft has also crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Students will be escorted home by bus following the end of the period. Please remain in your classrooms for another announcement."

I was reading about "flashbulb memory" on Wikipedia and it mentioned September 11th, and I remembered being able to tell everyone what I was doing at the exact moment I heard about the attacks. So I sat and thought about it, and heard the announcement almost word-for-word in my head.

How fucking surreal.
