    Alrightie, a little help here...

What I'm trying to do here is record directly off of the output (in this case, the line out from my sound card) into some sort of audio file (.WMA/.MP3). Any tips on how to do this?

SuperMp3Recorder can do it. The problem is, it's a trial, and will only allow you to make 40 second clips. I used to have a cracked version but my C:/ was wiped clean and I can't find a registration code for it anymore.

This is very easy to do. You go to your recording settings (On a sound blaster, you click on the icon in the system tray, go to options/properties, and click on recording volume.) Change the source to "Stereo Mix," "What U Hear," or any similar time of source. You should be able to record anything coming out of your speakers with any kind of recording program.
