Okay, so it's been awhile since I've posted something here. I haven't had writer's block, I've just been taking my time. Anyway, read this and please give me your honest opinion and I promise I wont be offended with whatever you have to say. Remember Lansdowne St. We shout out these words Let them bounce off of everything As sirens through this city's streets In mornings when it's still asleep I'm asking for the point I missed Or proof compassion still exists Through efforts to make the rules apply When half of them are out of line Pull your facade from the shelf You can bury it Under all the silhouettes The false starts of a new mindset Maybe there was logic in The way they turned their backs and hid But playing across the airwaves Our broadcasts prove we never did Chorus: Sing with every bit of dirt in your lungs Just make your voice known for the words you cough up Live like you would stop your pulse to change this And we'll shout out these words, just pretend it's enough Now we scale the perimeter Fall back to times we were Still frames on Lansdowne Street With papers and cash receipts We've tried to stay anonymous Or keep our names off all the lists But we can't hide from records When the future's shackled to our wrists Chorus We hang our heads low We're along for the ride It's just hard to sit still While the world is revised Now maybe the charts speak The truth, it's all frequencies And blueprints to repeat the past So are you fit to die for that? Chorus
Awesome. Make sure to post it somewhere on here. It's going to be even better with when it's completely finished.
The chorus especially--so powerful. I really like this one, Darcy. And like everyone else, want to hear it when it's finished.
Thanks a bunch! You'll appreciate this too: I saw Anti-Flag this summer and right before the closing song, he told us, "Sing with every bit of dirt in your lungs!" and that was the inspiration that started it all. It's not plagerism, because it isn't one of their songs. It's just something that he yelled out spontaneously. Anyway, you get the point.
Oh, I do! And I'm so jealous that you got to see Anti-Flag--I was thinking of buying a bus ticket just to see them with Bad Religion. That's a really cool bit of inspiration.
I've seen them twice and they were great both times! I saw them with Bouncing Souls. It was radical. You should see them if you get the chance.
Oh, my, my. I didn't notice that you'd posted something new in here! This is gorgeously lovely and kind of rocky (rock as in stone, not the music, I just think that the rock-rock-meaning fits here better, and that's good, by the way). You should post the finished product, that'd be wicked! You always write such wonderful lyrics, Darcylove.
Wow, another amazing piece of lyrics from you Darcy. You always write such amazing songs etc, I love your work. This is why I voted you for best writer in the recent LPA awards, brilliant brilliant stuff.
Thank you so much! I was wondering if anyone would vote for me, but I assumed no one had because I hadn't posted anything in forever.
