Revolvermag.com posted an interview with Mike Shinoda earlier today in which "Mike talks about the cameos from Helmet’s Page Hamilton, who lends guitars and vocals to “All For Nothing”; Daron Malakian of System of a Down, who plays guitar on “Rebellion”; and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, who jams with the band on “Drawbar,” the album’s lone instrumental." Check out extracts from the interview below: You can read the full interview and listen to the songs HERE. Have you listened to The Hunting Party yet? If so, which collaboration is your favorite? This is pretty much what I figured, that they probably ran through a number of ideas and picked the best one.
Yep. They did good too. I don't know the general opinion on 'Drawbar' but I loved it! Plus if they thought this one was the best then I believe and am glad they picked it because it is epic.
I think due to the major difference in their writing styles something unexpected like Drawbar was to come out of this collab rather than a thrashy hard rock song.
From what I can gather, the "general" opinion is that Morello's contributions aren't RATM-ish enough. But what you hear in the track is a result of LP and Tom Morello collaborating, no more and no less; everyone saying that Morello wasn't needed on the track is wrong in my eyes because, obviously, the track simply wouldn't exist without him.
what Morello did on 'Drawbar' is fantastic. It's one of my favourite pieces of music on 'The Hunting Party' or anything Linkin Park has done, such a beautiful instrumental, near perfect, Tom's fretwork and Mike's piano are fantastic. Love the Pink Floyd'ish piano at the end of 'Drawbar'. also the intro of 'A Line In The Sand' reminds me of the intro of Pink Floyd's 'Sheep'
I'm digging all three collaborations. Oh and also Rakim's. As much as they bring diversity, they still have that LP signature.
I really want Drawbar to be in a game trailer and reach a large audience because it's so awesome. I can picture it in a Last of Us or Metal Gear Solid V trailer.
Yarp. I really enjoy the warbling, spacey vibe. My only problem is that it isn't 2 or 3 minutes longer.
Drawbar was really needed on this album.it just felt perfect in that spot in the album. Can't wait to hear the THP demos. There are probably a shit ton since mike kinda started over early on. #LPU14
HL3 confirmed. I liked the interview, though you've quoted like everything already, so it's pointless to read the whole thing again on the website. Today my copy arrived, I'm going to listen to it now. Excited. Btw: The news threads are empty, everyone busy listening.
