In an interview with MTV.com that may suggest Linkin Park's new album is more experimental than previously thought, Rick Rubin stated the following concerning Linkin Park's new album:

"They really are reinventing themselves," Rubin said of the band, mixing now for a summer release. "It doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. I've heard guys in the band say that it transcends everything they've done before, like it puts them in a whole different light in their minds, and they really like that. It's very melodic. It's a progressive record."

Although the article states that the band is planning a summer release, such a statement should be considered as hearsay considering the fact that no album release date has been established as of yet.

LP needs to take notes from NIN.

Thanks to YZ speculation I completely forgot this was an LP fansite.

But at least we have confirmation from someone OUTSIDE of LP that the album is different.

There are only two options now:

    1. I'll be laughing my ass of when I hear the new CD.
    2. I'll be so amazed that I won't be able to speak for a couple of days.

I don't think a producer would downtalk an album he's spent alot of time on unless he's been relieved of his duties ala Velvet Revolver.

Then again, this is Rick Rubin.

I'm getting annoyed by this pointless information. I was hoping for an album title today.
