Clive Burr of Iron Maiden fame passed away today, as a result of complications from Multiple Sclerosis. He drummed on Maidens first three albums, including one of the most significant (if not THE most) metal albums of all time, The Number Of The Beast.

I wanted to make a thread because I think he deserves to be recognised as the man who drummed on Run To The Hills and The Number Of The Beast, in particular. Metal/rock would not look even remotely the same today without those songs, and those songs wouldn't have been what they were without him.

RIP Clive, and thank you for the music.

The fact that "Yeah, but can you play Run to the Hills?" is still a benchmark question that you ask a drummer to find out exactly how good they are 31 years after the song came out is a pretty solid indication of just how great Clive Burr was. I think every modern hard rock/metal drummer owes some degree of thanks to him, as he was a true pioneer of that style of drumming. R.I.P.
