    Here

Hey, guess what? NIN didn't make the Top 500, but guess which artists did?

    Eminem & Outkast.

    Discuss.

I agree, NIN should of been on that list, but Eminem and OutKast do deserve to be on there. Some of their songs are amazing.

It is a dumb list anyways.

What do you expect, Paul? It's Rolling Stone. They couldn't make a good decision even if their life depended on it.

    Exactly.

Why should I have a magazine based on Mainstream music tell me the 500 Greatest songs off all time? I can make my own list.

Don't act surprised everyone -- it's a mainstream magazine. We don't need those people to tell us the 500 songs of all time in OUR view. Their views are so far-off. Hahaha, Lose Yourself? Get outta here!

There are too many overrated overhyped bands in there. But yeah, it is Rolling Stone.

Hey Ya? What the fuck? That's a new song, how could it be one of the best 500 songs ever. Christ, Rolling Stone should pull their heads out of their asses and do a real list. Head Like a Hole should have AT LEAST been on there, considering it was a highly known and influential song.

Hey Ya came out in September, so it isn't terribly new, but yeah, I see what you mean.

I didn't think Head Like A Hole or anything would be on this list, since no one really recalls Pretty Hate Machine.

I expected atleast Closer on here. Maybe even Hurt.

Hey Ya blows ass. They shouldn't have picked singles. Everyone knows those songs, and they're over played, but that doesn't make them great in an artistic sense.

edit: nevermind. they dont care about art.

I was pleased to see that U2, REM, The Police, and Depeche Mode all made the list...but "Hey Ya"? WTF mate?

And Casey--I remember Pretty Hate Machine, but I think I'm the only one.

Rolling Stone always makes terrible lists, they probably don't vary their critics either.

    The Good:
9 Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana (not nearly there best song, but I can see why it's here)
11 My Generation - The Who
15 London Calling - The Clash (should have been higher, but 15 outta 500 ain't bad)
37 No Woman, No Cry - Bob Marley
53 Anarchy in the U.K. - The Sex Pistols
58 Billie Jean - Michael Jackson (yes, I like this song GODAMNIT)
82 You Really Got Me - The Kinks
92 Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones
    143 Purple Rain - Prince
144 I Wanna Be Sedated - The Ramones
    163 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
228 Should I Stay or Should I Go - The Clash
    283 Call Me - Blondie
    290 Stan - Eminem
298 One Way or Another - Blondie
331 I Can't Make You Love Me - Bonnie Raitt
336 Walk This Way - Aerosmith
361 Complete Control - The Clash
368 Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode (meh I don't think it should be this high, but it's good)
430 White Man in Hammersmith Palais - The Clash
    455 All Apologies - Nirvana

    The Questionable:
165 Fast Car - Tracy Chapman (it's good, but top 200 material? meh)
166 Lose Yourself - Eminem (again, it's decent, but rated far to highly IMO)
172 Dream On - Aerosmith (BELOW Eminem?!)
173 God Save the Queen - The Sex Pistols (this should be higher then Anarchy in the UK)
255 Heart of Glass - Blondie (ONLY 255? WHAT THE #@&$ are they THINKING?)
278 Pictures of You - The Cure (meh there are much better Cure songs)
292 Train in Vain - The Clash (see comment for #255)
330 We Will Rock You - Queen (see comment for #255)
457 Sheena Is a Punk Rocker - The Ramones (underrrated)
484 I Love Rock 'N Roll - Joan Jett (Joan Jett rocks but this song is overrated)

    The Rage-Inducing:
19 Hound Dog - Elvis Presley (bleh. this applies to all other Elvis songs on the list)
    171 Dancing Queen - Abba
180 Hey Ya! - Outkast (one of the reasons I stopped listening to the radio)
231 Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye (uhg)
    350 The Loco-Motion - Little Eva
470 Free Man in Paris - Joni Mitchell (see comment for #255 and make it ten times louder)

It's no personal best-of, but considering who put it together I think this is a decent list.

But, as it's been said, no NIN? That's just wrong, dude. You do not include Abba and Outkast and exclude Nine Inch Nails.
