Because I used to report on all the dealings with this band, might as well now. Saosin (Beau, Justin, Alex and Chris) have let Cove go due to deterioration of stage presence and vocal ability on stage these past few years. Most of the fans will agree with this. Saosin is off the big label too, so they are going to release an EP down the road when they find a new singer. (Justin stated that Cove let cigarettes get to his voice as comparing Cove warming up for a show to Justin slamming his hands against a brick wall before playing guitar. Justins entire message posted on the Saoboards is the following...) Cove has also stated on his Tumblr about working with Joey Bradford (from Thieves and Liars and also in a high school band with Cove) "Working on a little somethin’ somethin’ with this guy! More news coming soon about what we’ve been up to. Couldn’t be more stoked. Check him out!
Justin wasn't really offensive, I guess the band and him are fine and all but Justin just posted cause the Saoboards get ruthless and he wanted to clear up that whatever someone takes into their body is their own thing, but when it affects their job then we have a problem. That's basically it.
That's too bad but it seems as though it's probably for the best. Hopefully this doesn't mean they'll come knocking for Anthony to come back though.
I doubt Anthony would ever even consider going back to Saosin, even if he didn't have to commit. But an original line-up one-off show would be a Translating The Name fan's dream to see.
IMO, but the vocals were the only thing that really set them much apart from the other bands out there. If they can't find someone with a fairly distinct voice they're going to fall into obscurity now. I don't really care for them either way, personally.
I know it probably wouldn't happen but whether or not it would I'm sure I'm not the first person to have said something about it. But yeah, given a choice between having him back with Saosin and having Circa Survive I'd go with the latter any day. The one time I saw Saosin live with Cove he was actually pretty decent, from what I remember.
I've seen Saosin live twice and both times Cove was awesome, I always loved the selt titled and ISOSG was alright, but oh well. I'm excited to hear his new stuff and Sao's new stuff with whoever. and yeah Circa Survive numbah one. Favorite band ever.
Yeah, it'll probably be for the best anyway. Maybe Cove will take better care of his voice for whatever he does next, and maybe a new vocalist will help kickstart Saosin after their last album.
