Why was Secret not placed on Meteora?

Well, i believe I'm answering with the same question lol. I've heard the song, and it's really good. I downloaded the song somehow, and to tell the truth, I have no idea of when or where was it released. :chemist: Anyway, I'd like to hear more about the song, cuz I have no idea of where did it come from.

There was a CD released before Hybrid Theory as most know it. It was a 6 song CD that was sent to many record companies back in 1999. Secret is a hidden track on that CD.

It's older than Meteora.

"Secret" is actually called Ambient, a portion of the last track on the Hybrid Theory EP called Part Of Me...it is not a seperate track as most people tend to believe, just a hidden instrumental part of that song at about the 10:00 mark, but the correct name is Ambient, "Secret" was the name given on some P2P networks by people who didn't know what it was.

In other words...

it was on a CD before Meteora, that's why it isn't on Meteora.

 

Let's try to clear this up.

Before LP's name was 'Linkin Park', the band's name was Hybrid Theory. This was back in the day when Chester joined the band. While they were still called 'Hybrid Theory', they released an EP, entitled 'The Hybrid Theory EP'. It was a 6 track cd which they sent out to record labels and they produced a few to sell at shows and whatnot.

When a band with a similar name threatened to sue, they changed the name to Linkin Park. When the LPU first came out, they issued a re-release of the Hybrid Theory EP, which has a liner note with Linkin Park's name and information in it. This is how you can tell the originals and the re-releases apart.

Ambient, or 'Secret' as it's often referred to, (most likely because it was a 'secret' track) was hidden about 10 minutes of a sample looped at the end of 'Part Of Me' which was the last track on the album.

So to answer your question, Ambient was not put on Meteora because:

1) It was made even before Hybrid Theory
2) It's got nothing to do with the theme of Meteora
3) It was already on a CD they did, why put it on another CD?

A.06 was the first meteora´s instrumental and Session is the second, notice that if you pu A.06 in the 6th spot Figure 0.9 (track 08) becomes track 09.

Actually, I guess it does make sense in a way, but that's not why they gave those songs certain numbers.
