So is that why the audio sounded different? The electronics sounded really nice, especially on Burn it Down (I think).
I don't know how much the software would make a difference in the sound quality, his scratching might sound different running off different software but all of the sampled stuff is usually just playing back pre-loaded audio files. I tried the ketchup.
Don't eat the ketchup, unless you are prepared to understand all of the mysteries in the world. Astat has already taken that path.
What I'm wondering is whether Joe will return to his glory days of sick sampling and crazy turntable scratching. This man has proved again and again that he can really mix in the right electronic effects at the right moments in most of the band's songs. I know several songs on LT and some on ATS had the electronic sampling and scratching but I do miss the days where almost every song had these elements and they all worked so well.
Most of the "non-scratching" electronic elements on LP records have always been done by Mike. Even Cure For the Itch, which is usually perceived as "Joe's song," was mostly programmed by Mike (the beat and string/synth parts). The scratching and speech clips were added by Joe. Not saying that Joe hasn't done that kind of stuff from time to time as well, but when the majority of Linkin Park songs start out as Mike/Brad demos...yeah.
I actually never knew that Mike was the one who did the most of the electronic sound effects. It made sense to me that Joe was the one doing all of the sampling, scratching, and layering since he's the band's official DJ. This just goes to show how several members have multiple talents, making me appreciate their work even more.
Man I really hope they're wrapping up the recording process now, and it'll go to mixing soon. Would really enjoy a single in March/album in May-ish timeline.
Hahn's does the turntablism and sample-triggering for the live show, but we really have no idea what he contributes in a studio setting aside from scratching because none of the footage has ever shown us.
