well do u think (for ex.) that the Nike company works so hard to make Nike Shoks and then you see a genarick brand at payless cheaper??? this is a bad world!!! [/b][/quote]
    Right.

As December said, this happens all the time. Another Sum 41 song, "Bleed", seems to have been more than a little inspired by Limpbizkits "My Generation". I know, it's not such a big deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sum 41 used those bands as influences for their new record. They've been talking about wanting to change and evolve so they probably needed a lot of influence to do it since it's not normally the kind of music they play.

    ...yeah.

Sum 41 seemed like they ripped off a System of a down riff with all to blame.

I was gonna say that too. Especially how they have the screaming in the verses and the slowed down chorus just like Toxicity.

Yeah, but a lot of bands do the screaming/slow-chorus-with-singing thing.

It's bad when Sum41 needs to copy Metallica to try to sell albums.

It's a form of covering not seen too often where you get permission to do the song, and give it different lyrics. I only know of two artists who've done it before: Evanescence (My / Tourniquet) and kj-52 (The Hardway, Lift Me Up).

SR-71 and Bowling For Soup did the same thing. SR-71 wrote the song "1985" but gave Bowling For Soup the permission to use it and change lyrics.

Yea..I'm listening to Chuck on The Leak on mtv.com right now and I didn't even listen to the sample you put up and I knew The Bitter End didn't sound that much like Sum 41 o.- The guitar in Some Say reminds of the one in My Happy Ending too =/ *shrug*

EDIT: And I'm listening to I'm Not the One, they scream "You take the best of me". And another song, the beginning of each verse sounds kinda like One Step Closer, when Chaz goes "I cannot take this anymore".

YET ANOTHER EDIT: The melody of There's No Solution, or parts of it, to me, sound alot like Crawling.

The chorus also sounds like In the End..in a way.

And actually, all of Some Say sounds like a collection of Avril songs. One of them might not be an Avril song but it sounds really familiar.

EDIT: The song with the few OSC sounding verses is No Reason.

I guess No Reason has a very, very, very faint sound like OSC.

"nothing could ever feel this real..." or something like that, its just the way that its said and thats the only part that sounds remotely like OSC.

I see more of a similarity between There's No Solution and Numb/Crawling.

sounds like a turning point in Sum 41's music. They are going more for Punk Metal now than Punk Rock.

"Intro"/"No Reason" reminds me a lot of Papa Roach's "Infest."
