Dead Poetic are set to release a "best of" compilation simply titled, The Best Of. The outing will see a release on November 20th. Courtesy of The PRP. Your thoughts.
I'm one of those people who thinks a band shouldn't release a "greatest hits" compilation until they've got at least as many singles as will fill up a three-disc box set called "The Best of Maiden."
How many CDs do they have out? I only thought they had a couple CDs...that hardly warrants a greatest hits.
Maybe it's to finish the deal off with their record label without doing anything. Look at Korn and Atreyu for crying out loud.
Korn had 5 or 6 albums out and while it wasn't necessary...they at least had a CD full of hits. EDIT: I agree with Atreyu though. They didn't need one either.
Okay, so I've been doing some internet searching about the band, and the the general consensus about the band is that have broken up. Dusty apparently confirmed on AbsolutePunk.net and Brandon Rike hints at it in an article (http://www.whattodoabout.com/index.php/site/viewblog/loveformusic) on WhatToDoAbout.com.
I'm not going to say their change in musical styles directly led to their demise (I mean, Linkin Park's still together) but I'm more than sure it had something to do with it. I mean, they almost completely changed their style, much like Matchbook Romance did. And as far as I know, Matchbook broke up, too. The same thing happened to Finch as well.
This was taken from the article. The way Brandon explains things makes me think that his loss of focus on what music was all about was what led to the demise of Dead Poetic and not the initial change in musical styles. I think it's a shame, personally, because the band had just had new life breathed into it via Jesse Sprinkle and the two guys from Beloved.
I understand that, but I'm sure the lack of album sales was a big factor as well -- not for Rike leaving, but for the band disbanding as a whole.
