Has anyone here heard of these guys? I love this band. It's hard to describe exactly what they are, but it's kinda like speed metal.

DEP is confusing good metal. You go from your first album having Mike Patton of the fucking amazing Faith No More singing to a new singer on the second album. Then you go from Panasonic Youth and complete speed metal to Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants which is more of a mainstream metal song.

Erm, Mike Patton actually sang on their EP, it was Minakakis who did their vocals on Calculating Infinity. And i don't think they either approach either speed (=thrash) metal or mainstream one, they're more like metal/ jazz/ grind/ whatevercore :p

I like some of their tunes like Baby's First Coffin.

Their cover of Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy is awesome.

Great band. Definitely in a genre of their own.

They are in a genre of their own, yes.

I fucking love Panasonic Youth, Come to Daddy, Baby's First Coffin and a few others.

Oh. That's actually my most favourite song by them. And it's not even theirs.

They did a pretty good job. The original is really, in it's purest form, a techno song. And they changed it to fit their style. That's talent.

And I don't even like Mike Patton.

Everytime I listen to The Dillinger Escape Plan I think of how their vocalist shit his pants on stage for screaming so loud. That's pretty fucking metal. Wikipedia.org classifies them as a math/grindcore with jazz time signatures.

The new singer or the original guy?

    That classification is pretty accurate.

Yeah. It's more of a 'single/video' song than Panasonic Youth was.
