I can't believe a thread on them hasn't been started yet. Their new album, "Zeitgeist", is released on July 10th (my birthday!). The brand new single, Tarantula, is fucking awesome. Linkin Park's set at Rock Am Ring didn't get shown, but SP's sure did, and it blew away the competition. I also have their Paris bootleg from about a week ago maybe, and it's kick-ass aswell. So, in closing, download/buy all of their old shit (expect Machina II), and look out for the leak of the new album/buy the new album. I'll definately be buying the album on July 10th (aswell as the new Lil' Wyte, but that's a different thread...) Oh, and the new bassist is fucking fine.
They're an awesome band, can't wait for the new album. Also right now, they're having this collection of other bands doing SP covers on MySpace... haven't heard anything really great, though, but it seems okay.
I'm a big fan of the Smash, and right now I'm kind of on the ropes for Tarantula. I like it, but for some reason it doesn't feel like the Smashing Pumpkins I used to love. Obviously Iha and D'Arcy aren't in the band, but it would make me feel better (at least have Melissa back in the line-up!), but that's just me wishing. I'll still be awaiting this album though.
That pretty much sums up everything I had in mind. I really wanted to go to the Paris concert...but I also wanted to see my family back in Holland, I chose for my family. And when I came back in Holland, they were playing again on the Pinkpop festival there lol. Ohwell, hopefully the pumpkins will be here in Paris soon again.
I don't think I'll get the new one, but if you don't have Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, go get it.
I really can't wait for this album. I love the Pumpkins and to hear that they're coming back for another album is just amazing. Not to mention Tarantula is an awesome song.
"Tarantula" is good, but it just isn't a Pumpkins song to me... I'll have to wait for the album to decide.
"Doomsday Clock" is out now and I don't think it sounds anything like Smashing Pumpkins. It's a decent song but they just don't seem half as good as they used to be.
Listen to the album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Best album EVER. I have to say, I don't really like the new Smashing Pumpkins. It doesn't have the Pumpkins feeling thingy, you know what I mean.
I've heard a couple of thier songs, and to be honest, I dont really like them. I just hate the lead singers voice.
i'ts not bad but it doesn't compare to siamese dream or the inifinite sadness. i thought 'united states' was a cool song and probably my favorite.
I must say, the cover art is trippy. Just got my hands on the album, what coincidence... [edit] To be honest, I really don't like how the vocals sound at all. Everything else is great. =]
Meh, I don't like it. That sucks cause I was really excited when I heard Billy wanted to start the band again.
