I enjoy the three mixtapes he made a few years ago. His albums aren't that great to me. Still happy that he's out there making great pop and r&b tunes though.
"Starboy" is up for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and whatever else. In most places, you can buy it now
Starboy is about 2-3 tracks too long, but it's still really damn good. Nearly half the tracks had me dancing in my seat. To have me do that is an incredible feat. On my first listen, the highlights by far was the three-hit punch of Rockin', Secrets, and True Colors. So fucking good. I love the unexpected 80s influenced sound of the record. Right up my alley.
Finally decided to check out his mixtapes in full. I avoided downloading Trilogy, since I heard the mix and mastering jobs for the compilation is pretty bad. Tracked down the originals.
That many songs is a lot to take in at once, so go easy. Each one is really a separate album, so look at them that way.
"Party Monster" has been tapped for next single. I don't know how to feel since I like that one a lot
Fucking hipster. I just can't wait until Rockin' becomes a single. That song deserves to top every fucking chart.
I could put up with the people in my office bitching about that one. "Party Monster" getting overplayed would be less fun for me, although I'd be proud as a fan anyway
Guess it's not too late to join the party. This is a great album as I just got into the Weeknd relatively recently. My favorites are the upbeat ones, 'Lonely Night', 'Love to Lay', 'Rockin' and the lead single. Party Monster really grew on me as well as Secrets and Six Feet Under. My least favorite I'd say it's Sidewalks, because I hate the rapping on it, there's a cacophony that throws me off.. I was wondering if Kendrick Lamar raps like this all the time, with a hook that he keeps repeating over and over, because he also ruined 'The Greatest' from Sia.
