So far, I really, really like The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone) , Raised By Wolves, and California (There is No End to Love). The rest is kinda meh. Hopefully my opinion of the album will change with time.

It's no Joshua Tree though. That's for damn sure.

That album has grown on me just a wee bit, but I'm actually considering getting a physical copy of the album once it releases. That second disc is extremely appealing to me.

How did they manage to misspell the album name on the cover?

The pair of n's in "Innocence" are there, just not too easy to make out

Alternatively ... it's U2. Do you think that kind of thing still matters to them after all the success that they've had? :p

On another note, this column on Noisey kind of made me think. An Apple/U2 partnership is kind of odd given the music climate in 2014 ...

    Songs of Innocence- U2

On Tuesday, 500 million Apple account holders woke up to have a new U2 album, entitled Songs of Innocence, in their music libraries. Reaction to this surprise has been mixed, both critically and
non-critically. Tyler the Creator said waking up go the album was like," Waking up with herpes". Many other people have accepted the free gift with open arms. Rolling Stone gave the album a 5/5. NME gave it a 4/10. USA Today gave it a 3/5. What are your thoughts on how the album was released? Do you like the album itself? Have you found what you were looking for with Song of Innocence?

So I bought the physical deluxe edition today, and the album has grown on me a lot even though it's not the best thing ever. I bought the album for the sole reason of the acoustic sessions, which has been on repeat on my Spotify.

    1. Lucifer's Hands
    2. The Crystal Ballroom
    3. Acoustic Sessions (one 22 minute track on CD, six separate tracks on iTunes and Spotify)
    *Every Breaking Wave
*California (There is No End to Love)
    *Raised by Wolves
    *Cedarwood Road
    *Song for Someone
    *The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)
    4. The Trouble (Alternative Version)
    5. Sleep Like a Baby Tonight (Alternative Perspective Mix by Tchad Blake) / Invisible (album version - secret track)

The two new songs are bluesy and pretty good, but they don't fit in the album, which is why it's good they're only bonus tracks. I heard the background of "Lucifer's Hands" was used as the opener of their 360º Tour. I'm in love with the acoustic sessions, especially "Every Breaking Wave", which they've been using on the live performances of the song. The new version of "The Troubles" has different lyrics and no Lykke Li. The "alternative perspective" of "Sleep Like a Baby Tonight" is probably the perspective of a victim, since the original song is from the perspective of a pedophile priest. After a few minutes of silence, a surprise comes in: the full version of "Invisible", which was their single for (RED) back in January. I'm only disappointed that there's no "Ordinary Love", at least the Paul Epworth version.

I just don't know if the official album art is poignant or creepy.

U2's new tour will be them performing The Joshua Tree in full for the first time, in time for the 30th Anniversary of the album. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, OneRepublic, Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers will be support acts in the tour.

Listened to War, Zooropa and Achtung Baby all back to back yesterday. Did not get sick of it. Rather, really enjoyed.

Appreciate Zooropa a lot more now. For years, I did not get it.

Achtung Baby is still one of my favorites of all time. Sometimes it's actually #1, depending on what phase I'm in.

    18. The Blackout (Jacknife Lee remix) [Japan]

So U2 released the companion album of Songs of Innocence called Songs of Experience last December. Personally I think the album's ok; it's marginally and musically better than Innocence, but it's thematically inconsistent compared to that album. Surprisingly in my opinion the stronger material here is when the band goes personal instead of their socially conscious songs they're usually good at. There's a bunch of lyrical callbacks to Innocence which is a nice touch ("American Soul" uses the bridge of "Volcano", "Lights of Home" has the same outro as "Iris"). There are a lot of collaborators in this album, from inspired (Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Haim and producer Steve Lillywhite) to really questionable (Andrew from the Chainsmokers, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic producing most of the album for some reason). The singles so far have been "You're the Best Thing About Me", a refreshing love song, & "Get Out of Your Own Way", which is essentially Beautiful Day 2.0. "The Blackout" was released as a vinyl single, as "Lights of Home" next month. Personally I really love "Lights of Home", "The Little Things That Give You Away", "The Showman" (the most unexpected & polarizing song in the album) and "Summer of Love" It has some replay value, and it's a fun record, but far from their best.

"You're the Best Thing About Me"

"Get Out of Your Own Way"

    "American Soul"

    "The Blackout"

    "Lights of Home"

"The Little Things That Give You Away"

So the Experience + Innocence Tour started today, and the layout was an update of the tour from 2015, with the videocage now including AR and a split screen, and a lot more stuff. The setlist is a doozy, with the band completely removing both earlier hits and the entire Joshua Tree in favor of newer songs. They also debuted "Acrobat" live for the first time ever.
