Blue Valentine (2010) - 5/5 - Absolutely heartbreaking. I haven't seen a more real portrayal of a love story before this. There were so many moments that hit home for me (thanks to my recent break up). Both the leads did a fantastic job.

    "Hentai Kamen"
Truly a masterpiece, a modern classic hailing from Japan. On par with Akira Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress" in quality.
I give this ten WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOs out of ten.

Hentai Kamen - WHOOOOOOOO out of 10

This movie is what the superhero-movie genre of today needs. It wasn't scared to go to certain places without losing ferocity, craftmenship and innovation. "Amazing".

Into The Abyss (2011) (Documentary) - 4/5 - The interviews with the executioners, the inmate who was on death row, crime scene footage and footage of the execution room sent chills down my spine. Powerful stuff.

Okay, so i'm not one of those people who hates movies if there's no action and most of it is dialouge.. or even no speaking. I don't mind. I love some fucking films like that and i'm very open in terms of films.

So, I went to see Gravity. It fucking sucked. (this is my opinion so don't have a go at me for making that statement)

Why did I hate it? Well yeah, nothing happens. The first half hour was great, and I loved it. Seemed like it was gonna be a great film, and worthy of all the good reviews it's been given. Then a certain character left and it turned to shit. The rest of it was just Sandra Bullock floating around and not doing much else except whiny and climbing into like 3 different space pods. Then she hallucinated and thought she was going to die, whilst a chinese man sung a lullaby to her over an intercom and she cried at dogs barking. Then she found a different pod, some shit happened and it ended.

It sucked and I hated it, so dissapointed! I thought it was gonna be so good. It just generally annoyed me.

Plus, ew motion sickness if you see it in 3D.

Dirty Wars (2013) (Documentary) - 5/5 - Eye-opening to say the least. One of the best documentaries of this year. It's insane how much the US govt has and continues to cover up regarding their "war on terror". As a civilian I felt hopeless watching this as no one like me can do a damn thing about it.

    Elysium - 3/10

The script makes the movie impossible to take seriously. A good propaganda movie for the sheep though. A few minutes of utilizing critical thinking skills will reveal how crap the story really is.

Besides the script, the editing and story were all over the place. Sharlto Copley was pretty awesome and the few action scenes were decent. The body explosions were highlights. Overall, it's really hard to believe this came from the man who gave us District 9. It was a shallow turd wrapped up to look like a candy.

Sunshine is an underrated Danny Boyle film. Sure it's not the best movie ever, but it was still a great film by him.

Battle Royale (2000) - Light 3/5 - I enjoyed it. The balls out violence and the premise was interesting and it kept me hooked for the most part. But there were points that left me confused, one of them being the point of the whole film. I strung together some basic themes and metaphors the film tried to portray but it didn't have much of an impact on me as a viewer.

Bored on a Friday night and wanted to check it out. I had only heard of the film through Reddit, but otherwise nothing.

    A Haunted House, D+.

    Upstream Color - What/5

This movie is like David Cronenberg + Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life + Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind rolled into one. It's bizarre and uncomfortable and beautifully shot/scored and I might have hated it but I'm not sure.

Done by the same guy who did Primer, which I still haven't seen.
