It lost me 20 minutes in. I knew I was not gonna get anything out of it.

Watch Primer though. It is quite complex as well but I liked it.

Some movies are so wtf they don't deserve to be rated anything, like Roger Ebert did with the The Human Centipede. He was so wtf'd he gave no star rating and didn't even rate it zero stars. The sequel managed to get zero stars though.

    Prisoners - 8/10

Great movie, but the shit police work left a sour taste in my mouth about the story.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - 4.5 out of 5

Francis Lawrence does good by not emphasizing a teenage threesome on film like a certain vampire franchise, although the first two-thirds build slowly prior to revealing every twist in the final third; however, the build is not immensely slow as we get more than enough character development for Katniss, Peeta, and Gale, all crucial characters when it comes time for Mockingjay.

God, I really did not enjoy Upstream Color. It felt like such a waste of my time. After I finished watching it, I read the summary to try to figure out what exactly I missed, and I just ended up pissed at the director for thinking anyone could assume THAT after watching his film. That being said, I actually really like Primer.

Anyways, just saw In Bruges for the first time. Really enjoyed it. 3.5/5

    The Conjuring - 7/10

It's a basic horror movie, but it's the best one I've seen in a long time. Maybe ever. For once a horror movie wasn't so over the top and facepalmy that I could feel the tension the whole time. I was stuck in the atmosphere all movie long. I was legit scared. It didn't rely on many jump scares either. Makes me wonder why 99% of horror movies have shit scripts and can't execute a simple story like this movie did.

Um... from what I've seen (almost a half), my impression was the exact opposite.

Also, have you seen The Blair Witch Project and The Cabin in the Woods? If not, do that. The Conjuring does not deserve being anyone's favorite horror film in my opinion.

I've seen them both. I need to rewatch the Blair Witch. It's been like 12 years and I probably had my eyes shut during most of it.

Cabin In The Woods was great, but it was more satire/parody I thought than horror.

There's way better horror movies that I don't really consider horror, like The Thing and Alien/Aliens. I haven't seen the heavy hitters like Poltergeist or The Exorcist, but almost every movie I've seen in that genre has been a 4/10. [rec] was an exception.

    Seconded, lol.

Sinister is much more terrifying, personally, and [REC] is the reason I went back to sleeping with my night light on for the last 4 years.

I'd definitely consider Alien a horror movie. It takes place in the future and has all the window dressings of a sci-fi flick, but it's essentially a Gothic horror film in space.

It had loads of jump scares man!

Btw, watch the French horror called Martyrs. It'll leave you scarred!

    Also try The Others.

I've seen Martyrs. It was a joke after the first part. And that last act?! Like it was for a different movie entirely. Didn't fit at all and was ridiculous. To me it seemed like a torture porn movie with shallow philosophical bits sprinkled in to make people think it's some great art. I wouldn't say it was a waste of time because it actually was good torture porn. But the writing was nuts.

Taken - 4/5 Well paced. Liam Neeson is a boss. Awesome soundtrack.

Taken 2 - 2.5/5 It wasn't "just like the first" but it lacked originality in aspects that weren't story. The problem didn't feel as delicate or important mid way through the movie. It felt like there was a pretty large dilemma which became significantly reduced half way through the movie, and what was left was obviously not going anywhere and was going to be resolved pretty easily.

I love Martyrs, flawed as it may be. It has some haunting imagery that I'll never forget.

Spoilery invisible text: That bathroom scene with that crazy chick contorting on the floor? That shit is fucking nightmare fuel. It's not so much scary as it is unsettling.

Well I liked the twist a lot and it came out of the blue for me. Elevated it to something more than just another torture porn flick.

Gawd just thinking about it makes me cringe. Very creepy indeed.

    A.I. Artificial Intelligence - 4/10

Oofta. That was hard to make it to the end. Everything was great except for the entire screenplay. What a boring mess.
