What Was That Noise?

Ironically, we didn't hype QWERTY or Remember the Name at all really. We kinda just posted them and surprised everyone. I mean, QWERTY generated its own hype just by LP playing it, but we didn't post anything before we released the HQ mp3 of it indicating that something was coming. By the same token though, those were LPA exclusives while this is a 4-website collaborative effort, so the sheer enormity of this release alone kind of justifies the hype, regardless of the fact that there's bound to be someone who is disappointed with it (that holds true with any new find, that happened with QWERTY and Remember the Name as well).

I still think this is something the entire LP community will be able to appreciate though, I already know what it is and even I'm looking forward to Monday.

No. First of all, the only chat is with Brad, and that's on LPU. We wouldn't be hyping something that's already publically viewable information on an official site. The thing about Phoenix is just mentioning that it's his birthday.

I honestly don't see how it can be anything worthwhile. If it was big enough, LP would have announced it publicly. I do like these four websites, but you guys are not LP's press representatives.

 

Yea but if an old demo, or live bootleg has come to light, or something similar, then the band doesn't need to be involved.

 

I won't lie. I'll be involved with whatever it is. But unless it is a brand new song, I think this little weekend surprise thing by these four websites is just mean.

 

So only a new song will be good enough for you then?

Look, even Astat thinks it's something awesome, and he knows so much about bootlegs etc that it has to be something pretty special for him to be promising that it's great.

 

Yes, it has to be a new song for me to justify all this hype.

 

They keep saying, especially on LPFuse that it's nothing like what we expect...

 

It better not be the Given Up video, a new website, or a rare show.

 

An extremely rare show, as in, Xero, would be equivalent to a new song though.

And we can assume Crewdy would've been involved except that he says hes been away.
So it might've even been 5 sites.

Nah, he posted on LPFuse saying 'I go away for a week and this happens?" or something along those lines.
Seems like he's not involved.

I knew about this a few days ago, and I figured it was something that would just be released as soon as the people who had it were able to. I can see the logic though, if 4 websites just randomly posted the same thing at the same time, someone would probably either complain about it not being "exclusive," or they would start implying that X website "stole" it from Y website. Hyping it for a couple days will get everyone on the same page so they know that it's a collaborative effort.

Besides, a little anticipation never hurt anybody! Well...maybe people with heart disease...

And just to kind of put a scale on this thing, remember the Pts.Of.Athrty demo that popped up a few weeks ago? This is a significantly greater find than that was.

 

So it is a 'find' then.
So we can rule out interviews at least.
