Okay, recently we've been teased by Mike & the gang about writting new matterial for their fourth album after the the 2008 tour. As well as the fact that Chester said last year he'd finish up Dead By Sunrise in their break in March. So I'm curious about what everyone on the LPA believes or wants to be the next big release by LP & Co, What would you guys really want to see next? Linkin Park's 'no-nonsense' Fourth Album that the band says their planing? Dead By Sunrise Debut Album that's been delayed more times than MTM? And for good measure... Fort Minor's Second album? As much as I love LP, I'd personaly would preffer if Chaz released DBS later this year, mainly as Astat said on the LPU: if its not released soon, it might not be released at all! A worrying thought, but its been delayed several times since 2005 so its now or never really. But do you guys agree?
I'm not up to date on what they're doing these days, but in general I think they need to stop fannying about and get albums out quicker. 2003-2007 is a collosal wait for a young(ish) band's 3rd record. And i've got a hunch that Chester's actually not that great of a songwriter without the others, so a new Linkin Park album will do.
I'm not sure how good Chester is... Grey Daze is pretty quality stuff though, so maybe he isn't bad... Or maybe the other members of Grey Daze were good songwriters. Hard to know.
I don't doubt Chester's talent. He is talented in his own way. And yeah, I'd love to see DBS' album now, followed by the next LP record. And as for Fort Minor, I think Mike is concentrating more on producing for other artists (Lupe, SOB) atm, than working on Fort Minor stuff. So the chances of a new album are slim.
Honestly I just want the next Linkin Park album and I'm not really that stoked on the Dead by Sunrise idea right now. It was a mistake for Mike to release Fort Minor that early in Lp's career, even though it was great, and Lp only has three proper albums so... i'd like to see the fourth Linkin Park album out by next year that actually has Mike's rapping and Joe's scraching on more then just a song or two.
Isn't Morning After going to be on that album? Fuck if that song makes the cut the DBS album will almost definately be shite.
I really like the vocals of Grey Daze and I want to hear if anything on DBS is anything similar but my top vote goes to a new Linkin Park album.
I don't mind it... Quite like it actually. Keep in mind the actual song will be different to that Julien-K version.
Because if the bar is so low that Morning After gets on it, the album will almost definately be shite.
And I'm sure you've got the letter from Mike explaining to you why it's not going to happen, right? Mike's never ruled out another Fort Minor record, so I don't see why you were so quick to claim it's not going to happen. Personally that's what I want to see. Another Fort Minor record. At least it was more creative than every Linkin Park record save Reanimation. And who had the biggest hand in that? Mike.
sorry, Will. last i heard, mike said there's no plans. as far as i'm concerned, that leans more towards "no". but, you're right, as per usual - it's indefinite.
Just because he said there aren't any plans doesn't mean there aren't any plans at all. Plus when you're touring in support of your band's most ambitious record, why would you take the focus away from that and tell people you're planning on working on something better anyway?
