I've tried creating synth stuff before but have never had massive amounts of success - particularly with drums - what samplers/software do LP use? I know that they use pro-tools but that's just a place to put the sounds - any good advice/tutorials out there?

    cheers, Alex:cool:

And a pretty in-depth article about the equipment used to make ATS: Link

Trying to recreate exact synths can sometimes be impossible, depending on how it was mixed and mastered. Same with drums. I know a band like Pendulum layers a lot for their drums. That's why nobody can really get that incredible kick and snare they have. You'd have to get the combination right, plus use the right effects on it and stuff. The same can apply to synth. A lot of the time it will be 2 or more synths layered for leads.

So the best thing to do is just be original. It's much easier, too.

Edit: And the drums for LP don't seem particularly unique sounding. I'm sure you can find thousands of hit samples to use to make your own beats.

yeah I agree, but for me the process of recreating other people's sounds helps me to understand the various stages that go into creating sounds etc. Similar to learning guitar, start off with a few covers before moving onto my own stuff.

thanks to all for the links and advice, muchly appreciated!
