I agree with the post as a whole except for the label pressure. Label pressure (whether small or big) is always there. I would say bigger artists just choose to ignore it. No matter how big you get the label still owns you. Still gives you money for marketing, videos, etc etc. Being in a band I can say the pressure is always there. On yourself, from fans and from people basically employing you, whether it's overt or not. So while I do agree LP probably gets a TON more freedom than the early days and probably doesn't have people knocking on their 24/7, I can still see a random label head walking in and going "hmmmm....". Especially when they turn the album in to be approved. So while I doubt it forces their hand, it's not just a "thing". And yeah this thread is totally flamebait and I don't think many other people could have gotten away with posting it if I am being perfectly honest. Watch someone with 50 posts under their belt come in and post this. People too far to the right annoy me just as much as people too far to the left in an argument.
I don't know if it was just me but I read all the "You's" in Kevin's post as kinda impersonal, I didn't see the post as trying to put down people in the community who disagree with him and impose his opinion as "fact" but rather speaking to the ever-complaining collective who could be inside the fanbase as well as outside of it. The whole post has a satirical air to me and I don't perceive it as flamebait IMO, simply because it's playing with the "I'm behind a keyboard so I'm invincible" thing, telling people it's not ok to say "I'm always right" while doing the exact same thing. I actually looked at it as a hilarious way to put things.
I know. I just think it works because it's Kevin and we know Kevin wouldn't post something like this if it was a personal attack.
That remembers me of another forum post a few months ago. Someone said that Lost in the Echo was against the haters. http://www.songtexte.com/songtext/linkin-park/lost-in-the-echo-3bb5f888.html Pretty similar statement I guess.
Reading can hurt brain. All some of us can do is just sit here and . I know I'm not smart to reply to this so *munches on cookie*
Pre Minutes to Midnight: "Why doesn't Mike sing? We want him to sing. Mike, sing!" Post Minutes To Midnight: "Mike should stick to rapping. Where's the rapping? We want you to rap, Mike. Mike, rap!"
Honestly, with the way So Far Away sounded, Mike should have been singing on records well before Minutes to Midnight.
His confidence level in his singing was still so far away though. Singing while on tour got him one step closer to singing on a track almost by himself in between V-day and Pieces on MTM.
Haha, totally. If you look at the title only, IISUPERXEROI might have been the only one on topic in this thread
