Pale (2006 demo from LPU10)? I mean, think about it: - It has the feel of a cinematic closer. - It may not be six minutes in length, clocking in at just over five, but who knows: What if the band added to it after the demo was released? - I could see how they'd cut it down, seeing as the buildup for the song is very slow (Though I've come to love the fact that it's so slow). Really, this is just wild speculation at this point, and I doubt this is the demo the song was derived from, seeing as the band has said Powerless is the softest/only slow song on the album. I mean, with proper editing, I'm sure they could turn Pale into a slower, softer song (I mean really, if you take out the heavy guitar and bass, it's a lot softer of a song, though the guitar/bass riff is kind of where the song takes off, so), but I doubt they did. Still, I feel that IF the demo for Powerless was one they'd already released, it'd be Pale, as it fits the bill, for the most part. It would just need to be toned down if Powerless is indeed as soft as it's being made out to be. Or maybe my love of Pale has simply got me grasping for straws at this point.
It would be cool, but, chances are the band will never release a song with us hearing the demo of it first.
This. If there was ever a possibility of the band revisiting a track like Pale at some point down the road and considering using it on a future album, they would've kept the lid on the original demo in the first place.
I actually was thinking about that, but I seriously doubt it. I'm a huge fan of that instrumental anyway, I like Halo, Coal and Divided better.
Pale? Yeah, can be. As Tinfoil is similar to Powerless (I read this is one review) and in 0:45 of Pale enters one element similar to the one in Tinfoil, it's dificult to hear cause tinfoil as played live, just guessing I'm investigating all their demos, like a fanatic
I don't think Pale is a demo for it... The band has probably made a bunch of long, cinematic instrumentals during album cycles that never saw the light of day. Pale is also from 2006 (MTM Sessions) so I highly doubt that would make it onto an album 3 cycles later.
In Making of Meteora, Mike said he'd been working on BTH for like 5 years, so 2002-5=1997, so right in the Xero days. And Session is basically a remake of the hidden instrumental after Part of Me, so it's at least as old as 1999, though probably 1998.
"Mike Shinoda had been trying to write a song around this lyrical idea for for over five years "- from Songfacts "This was going to be an instrumental track that was 10 minutes long. The guys convinced me to turn it into a full song." - from Songfacts too. And yes, we can say that "Ambient" is an earlier version of Session. Also, some effects from "Coal"(LPUX) appears on Session. And I can't give a source but I read an interview where Mike said he was working on Session for years.
It would be interesting but it's highly unlikely seeing as we've actually HEARD this demo before. But there's always a chance that it might be a very highly adapted version.
Yeah, I understand that there's a slim to no chance of Pale being the demo Powerless was derived from, but man, I'd do anything for that to be the case.
