But...Given Up and Bleed It Out were 2 of the only songs that brought up the energy level in MTM, while No Roads Left and Not Alone would have been 2 more mid-tempo songs. You might not like those 2 tracks, but don't you find they were better addition to MTM for the balance of the record? I would like to hear what you think about this :)

    Very simply

2 good songs are better than 2 bad songs.

What the hell does pace have to do with it?

Let's use your argument for pizza, shall we?

Original pizza has Anchovies, Pepperoni, Bacon, Cheese, and Ham.

The question is if you could replace any 2 toppings with another 2 topping which would you choose?

I say replace Bacon and Ham with Steak and Chicken

    You say

But...Bacon and Ham were the only two ingredients of pork. While Steak and Chicken may be good don't you think that Ham and Bacon are a better addition to the pizza?/QUOTE]

    I go LOLWUT?

You don't have any Bacon and Ham to have a better pizza.

So, in conclusion, you don't need to have two more faster paced or up-tempo songs to have a better album.

While that was a nice analogy, somehow you left the anchovies on the pizza. Therefore, it's kind of an invalid argument.

Anyways, this is my revised tracklist:

    1. Wake
    2. Given Up
    3. Leave Out All The Rest
    4. Bleed It Out
    5. Blackbirds
    6. What We Don't Know
    7. In Pieces
    8. Pretend To Be (It's an MtM sounding track. Get over it.)
    9. No Roads Left
    10. Valentine's Day
    11. Shadow Of The Day
    12. What I've Done
    13. Hands Held High
    14. Across The Line
    15. No More Sorrow
    16. The Little Things Give You Away

A finished Debris would come in somewhere right before No More Sorrow, and Asbestos would probably be before/after Given Up. The other LPU12 tracks are too incomplete to place.

Yep, nice analogy. I was only surprised to see a guy, which seems to think that varied records are more interesting than records that consist of the same stuff again and again, wanting MTM to be more of the same stuff.

Also, to put that out there, you'll never get a consensual response on the fact that GU and BIO are indeed bad songs. You're more attracted by alt rock than by pissed-of punk rock, that's all. So if we consider them on the same level than NRL and NA, I just think their addition to MTM was a way better choice, since it gave the record more variety.

I'd toss Given Up, What I've Done, and No More Sorrow; and put in No Roads Left, Across the Line, and Blackbirds.

I would actually leave it as is. The statement that the album was intended to make has done so. It was done well, in fact. I got No Roads Left with my digital preorder through Itunes, so I consider it an "extra track," if you will, on the album. The extra couple of finished songs that we got out of the mix are a nice touch as B-sides, and to this day I still think of them as such.

Diverse albums are more interesting, but a diverse album that consists of bad (imo) tracks is still a bad album no matter how diverse it may be. You can have an album that has country, dubstep, bluegrass, and A Capella but if all the tracks are bad, it doesn't matter.

    Kinda agree.

It's fine as it is. Even if I don't like In Between and Hands Held High.

And I thought Blackbirds was post MTM?

Nope. It was made during the MTM session, we can even hear a Blackbirds snippet during either the MTM making of or a LPTV related to the making of MTM (can't remember!)

Anyway, since I still haven't answered the thread subject, I'd have loved MTM to be half punky (in the vein of Given Up, Qwerty, Asbestos), and half "darky" (in the vein of What We Don't Know/Blackbirds/Across The Line/ In Pieces)

The only tracks I'd never have included on it are LOATR and SOTD, which I'm not a fan of at all.

I remember them saying for the iPhone game that it was a brand new song? Like, completely new...

Well, when they said "brand new", it was more in the sense of never-heard-before track. I can assure you this comes from the MTM session; see this, which was posted way before Blackbirds was released in full form (3:30 mark) :)

You've got it all wrong. Replace the anchovies with sausage.
