With his upcoming dates with Stone Temple Pilots just a little over two weeks away, Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots frontman Chester Bennington has begun to do interviews with the press to promote the upcoming tour, and discuss the band's upcoming new material this fall. Recently I had the opportunity to speak with Chester Bennington over the phone for my alternative music website AltWire, and learn more about the upcoming STP album and tour as well as information on Linkin Park's track with Steve Aoki, and his wishes for a new LP album next year. You may read the interview here. We also created a "Behind The Artist" playlist, highlighting some key tracks from the musicians Chester has named as some of his biggest influences. To learn more about the music that lead to Chester being who he is today, check out the article here.
When did Stone Temple Pilots with chester Bennington get changed? (Now just "Stone Temple Pilots" normal, which is good) Did they win a lawsuit or something? BTW Derek, nice interview! Good questions too
Great Interview Derek (also if you dont ask him about Germany dates ) Like the fact he is on a good way and has fun with his "work". Maybe you had give him a little push to bring the other guys to an Acoustic EP, that would be pretty awesome Also if this is more a dream. So summer 2016 a new album could be there , interesting, could mean new LP material in January 2016 (if it will be the cycle like THP) __________________________________________________________________ LP7 = jazz flute + Xylophone ... interesting
Great interview, and some really substantial answers on Chester's part, too. I have to say, I've gained a lot of respect for him over the past few months. Between his taking on the STP position and meeting him at the Nasvhille show M&G, it's become really clear to me that he's just an all-around great guy who loves what he does. I guess I don't feel like I see that often enough in famous musicians. I really liked the bit about songwriting for himself as opposed to just one band or the other, and about how these things just have to flow creatively.
Awesome interview, Derek! I really like the idea of "Behind The Artist". It's something I haven't seen before.
"Head Like A Hole" is the best choice here. It comes from 1989, so it's late 80s like most the songs on the playlist and he was gonna cover it with KoRn back in 2010.
