I agree with you. For a band with mainstream appeal, it's good for them to do the music they want to do.

 

Love the 6 min radio station bitch slap their gonna put down with this single. Good to see that Chester is possibly pushing some Muse like song durations. If they ever did a collab my head would literally explode.

 

+1 . I hear the snippets of the catalyst and I can't help but feel disappointed especially since MTM was such a let down for me personally. I wish they would evolve more towards either the hip hop or rock portion they excel at instead of the typical top 40 sound the catalyst has.

Not half assing for "fans" who are in love more with the nu-metal sound vs. wanting the band to expand their musical horizons.

I think the electro drums sound pretty top 40ish, but all in all I don't think what we've heard could be considered "top 40 sounding."

But of course, I don't have your ears.

 

The enhanced vocals as well are typical top 40 stuff. Even though only those two aspects are generic pop, it kinda ruins the whole song for me.

 

Do you ever not complain about something?

OMG IT IS!! The song isn't even 5 minutes..

 

You can tell the song has been cut into pieces to fit the trailer, I wouldn't worry. The original song is 5:42, I would consider this Joe Hahn's cut for the trailer. Pretty good progression/build-up. I like the fact that it doesn't fit the typical song trend and they're breaking the mold with it.
