larger hard-drive as well, you can only get it with the 2.0 GHz processor.

I wish they would release the Pro models in different colors. Who cares, getting a 2.16 GHz processor for cheaper is a nice deal.

I think I'm going to get the middle range one with the 2.0ghz and the SuperDrive. Then I think I might Custom build it to 80gb HD for the extra $50. Overall, I'm really happy with it. A lot of the people on Mac Forums i've been checking wanted "non-integrated" graphics for gaming I guess. But I don't really play video games, so I don't care.

Sorry Todd, but $150 more for black isn't that big of a deal for me. haha
Hopefully they can get it into stores soon (if its not already, i haven't been able to check, i have to be at work in 8 minutes) so i can go check it out in person. then maybe i'll decide to get black.

but i found out my mom gets an education discount of $100 on the version i want, so i won't buy it in-store, but on Apple.com.

    I can't wait now.

Someone on Macrumors just got his Macbook from an Apple Store today.

BTW, your mom does get her discount at an Apple Store if she shows her ID. I've used my discount at an Apple Store for my G5 and iPod, and my parents Mac Mini

    Well no shit sherlock! :p

I'm not relaly sure as to why the Black MacBook costs US $200 more than the White MacBook aside from the difference in hard drives. You can upgrade the hard drive on the white version to 80 GB and it's US $150 cheaper.

It makes no sense what so ever. I can't imagine the glossy black cassing would ring in the remainder of the money.

*rereads topics* Whoo, missed some replies. >_<

For some reason, the black doesn't look as appealing to me in the pictures. oO And black is a standard laptop colour. Why not be different and take white?

    Oh, seriously?
Any Apple Store will do this?
Do they have them in already?

I may have to look into that, except for the Buy Custom thing. Unless they can do that too. Because with the discount, I could get 1gb RAM and an 80gb HD for $34 more than the standard MacBook (discountless).

Apple Stores (Apple's own retail stores, not resellers like CompUSA) will do the education discount, and might have some in stock. However, the only in-store upgrades they do are RAM, you're stuck with whatever hard drive the computer has though.

Well, the ordering of my MacBook is about 2 hours away, I think.
Just doing some final lookthroughs to make sure my $1400 is going to be well spent.

    Here's what I've finalized on:
    -MacBook
    -White
    -2.0ghz
    -80gb HDD
    -1gb RAM

I'm going to have to hold off of the iPod and MightyMouse for a while, as this takes basically all the money I've saved. Apparently you do have to pay tax. And it's a little over $100.

So Todd, I may need the torrent site for Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator. Also, how hard do you think it'd be to "purchase" (cough cough) a copy of Quicktime Pro?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to order it by 7:00pm. It says 1-5 business days, so I'm hoping to get it maybe Friday, and hopefully by Monday.

After I talked to you, I searched MacRumors and it seems its only the black version that's having these problems. Because they have the matte paint rather than gloss.

The only Mac torrent site I know of is invite only and I have no invites. Although if you use other torrent sites such as the public ones you can probably find something

    No, not yet.
But I was under the impression that I have a year to get it, as Todd said.
I just simply didn't have the cash yesterday, nor do I have it now.
I'll probably get it in a month or two.

Yep, you have a year. And it's a must for laptops, since parts can be very expensive if anything goes wrong. I've already had to send my PowerBook out twice...once was for a new keyboard, approximately $150, covered under warranty. The other time was a new logic board, which was really expensive, just slightly under $1,000. Again, covered under warranty. Even if you can get cheap parts off eBay or something, the repairs are really hard to do. I've built many-a-computers in my day, and I wouldn't even attempt a keyboard or hard drive replacement on my Powerbook, because after reading service manuals and DIYs for the hell of it, it looks really complicated. So yes, get AppleCare, definitely. I still have to buy it for my PowerBook.
