I'm not sure if this is worth making a thread out of, but I noticed that a constant element that makes all the tracks fit together nicely and sit well within the album is the element of bitcrushing. Edit: For those who don't know / are curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcrusher If you noticed, there is at least one element in every song on LT that is bitcrushed (except for Roads Untraveled as far as I know.) I'll name them: LITE - Intro Synth IMR - Intro/Verses Piano Burn It Down - Synths LGM - Kick IBG - Intro/Outro Synth COG - Intro Guitar Victimized - Guitars / First Verse Vocals RU - n/a STB - Synths UIB - Drums/Synths Tinfoil - Pads Powerless - Intro/Verse Drums Idk if it's a sound preference of Mike/Joe/Brad, etc., but it's a nice effect that connects the tracks in the album imo. Just wanted to share.
That's why the album is so dirty in a lot of the songs. Synth + bitcrush and other distortion effects creates pure filth. Skin To Bone makes me wet.
