From Wikipedia: You can download the mod/game for free as long as you have any game that utilizes the source engine. Such a game that utilizes the source engine and is already free is Valve's Team Fortress 2 (aka Hat Simulator 2.) So in conclusion you can download this game completely free. Speaking of free, there's a Black Mesa soundtrack that you can either get for free, or pay as little or as much as you'd like to for. Black Mesa: The Countdown Click to get the Black Mesa Soundtrack! thanks go out to redditor tbwen for alerting me to the countdown.
Holy shit, yes! I've known about Black Mesa for a while now, so I'll be keeping a closer eye on it from here. FYI, the main theme is amazing.
Yeah, I've known about it for awhile too. Actually I thought it was going to be vaporware, until I saw that countdown.
The game is now on Steam Greenlight and has 30 percent of the votes needed to be downloadable via Steam.
In a week I've gotten a 75% off deal for Portal 2 on Steam, and now this. What an awesome fucking week.
Game is going to be free regardless if it's on Steam or not. I personally enjoy stand-alone games much more than having to use Steam but that's just me. But I have to agree that there are advantages to using Steam like more accessible updates and achievements and such.
The Greenlight service seems to be having issues right now. There's supposed to be a patch for it soon to fix any bugs.
Yes. It's a re-visioning of the original Half-Life created on the Source Engine. There's brand new music, choreography voice acting and diolouge as well as 2,000+ custom created models and 5,000 + custom textures. The game will not feature the Xen+ chapters at first but will be added over time. It'll include all chapters up to Lambda Core at first release. The game is created by a Third-Party and is not an official Valve Software game. I've played it, yes. They pull it off. There's fun humour and subtle pop references added to the game. Game's great. 9.5/10
Really want to play this. Looks incredible and the soundtrack is amazing. But my computer can barely run Minecraft or Slender No chance at running this
